Résumé : |
The major problem facing Algeria in term of residential units is one of a fast expanding population.
The number of dwellings built per annum are far fewer than the actual need.
The deficit between what is needed and what is built is continually increasing.
By refering to the tables in chapter one, it can be see that the deficit between what is constructed and what is needed is almost equal to the amount of property left to decay.
Fully skilled restoration would be a major factor in elevating the problem.
Oran by the virtue of its location, on the north west coast of Algeria, is a prime example of multiple colonisation, there are many different styles of architecture, ranging from Roman to French.
Different quarters of the city represent different time periods and colonial styles.
European renovation example should be used as a guide.
Although the historical reasons are different, the European tradition of renovation would provide a valuable precedence for Algeria. |
