Résumé : |
It has been shown that it is possible to improve the excitation efficiency (coupling coefficient) of Surface Electromagnetic Waves (SEW) on water by using a metal-lens assisted horn antenna.
These experiments have been done at a microwave frequency of 9.5 GHz.
The distance, d, of the aiming point of the center line of the microwave horn antenna from the corner of the prism was found for a maximum reading to be 0.85λ and 1.36λ, respectively, when the horn was used without and with the metal-lens assistance.
The metal-lens, when mounted on the horn's aperture, gave a higher peak by 8.8% than the horn used alone.
When using the prism, a 6% higher peak was noted when the metal-lens assisted horn antenna was used.
When collimating the electromagnetic beam horizontally with dielectric lenses, a higher peak of 6.5% was obtained with the metal-lens assisted horn antenna over the horn antenna alone. |
