| Résumé : |
The boundary element method as a numerical technique is used to solve heat conduction problems with constant and linear boundary conditions.
These problems include two-dimensional steady state, transient, and axisymmetric cases with distributed heat sources and constant properties such as thermal conductivity, specific heat, and material density. The heat conduction bodies can be made up of a number of regions but each region must be homogeneous and isotropic. A new approach is presented for solution of multi-region bodies in which homogeneous separate regions are solved independently instead of combining them into a single assembly. The present procedure approximates the temperature and the heat flux at each node on the interfaces alternately, and checks the convergence of the solution by the continuity equations at the interfaces. This technique results in a considerable reduction in computing time and memory requirements over both conventional boundary integral and finite element techniques. These techniques are used to develop a user freindly software package written in Fortran. This software is used to solve selected examples and the results are compared with analytical results, when available, or with results obtained using finite element or finite difference methods. Comparaisons of these results have led to several important conclusions: Less computing time, a considerable reduction in memory requirements, and generally more accurate results. |
