Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : In this paper, two context-based entropy coding schemes for AVS Part-2 video coding standard are presented.
One is Context-based 2D Variable Length Coding (C2DVLC) as a low complexity entropy coding scheme for AVS Part-2 Jizhun profile.
C2DVLC uses multiple 2D-VLC tables to exploit the statistical features of DCT coefficients for higher coding efficiency.
Exponential–Golomb codes are applied in C2DVLC to code the pairs of the run-length of zero coefficients and the non-zero coefficients for lower storage requirement.
The other is Context-based Binary Arithmetic Coding (CBAC) as an enhanced entropy coding scheme for AVS Part-2 Jiaqiang profile.
CBAC utilizes all previously coded coefficient magnitudes in a DCT block for context modeling.
This enables adaptive arithmetic coding to exploit the redundancy of the high-order Markov process in DCT domain with a few contexts.
In addition, a context weighting technique is used to further improve CBAC's coding efficiency.
Moreover, CBAC is designed to be compatible to C2DVLC in coding elements which simplifies the implementations.
The experimental results demonstrate that both C2DVLC and CBAC can achieve comparable or even slightly higher coding performance when compared to Context-Adaptive Variable Length Coding (CAVLC) in H.264/AVC baseline profile and Context-Based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) in H.264/AVC main profile respectively.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...] [article] Context-based entropy coding in AVS video coding standard [texte imprimé] / Zhang, Li., Auteur ; Qiang Wang, Auteur ; Ning Zhang, Auteur . - pp. 263-276.

Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : By optimizing the variable filter coefficients through calculating Wiener–Hopf equations for each picture, the adaptive-interpolated prediction can significantly improve the coding efficiency.
However, compared with the fixed coefficient interpolation filtering, this technique adds a huge amount of complexities in implementation.
To reduce the complexity of the interpolating unit, this paper proposes a sub-pixel interpolation scheme, which is called combined adaptive-fixed Interpolation (CAFI) with multi-directional filters.
Compared evaluations of the hardware complexity as well as the coding efficiency are given.
The results show that the CAFI has lower complexity and a stable high coding efficiency for test sequences.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...] [article] Combined adaptive-fixed interpolation with multi-directional filters [texte imprimé] / Zhongmou Wu, Auteur ; Yun He, Auteur . - pp. 277-286.

Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : In 2004, a new standardization activity called reconfigurable video coding (RVC) was started by MPEG with the purpose of offering a framework which provides reconfiguration capabilities for standard video coding technology.
The essential idea of RVC framework is a dynamic dataflow mechanism of constructing new video codecs by a collection of video coding tools from video tool libraries.
With this objective, RVC framework is not restricted to specific coding standard, but defined at coding tools level with interoperability to achieve high flexibility and reusability.
Three elements are normative in RVC framework: decoder description (DD), video tool library (VTL) and abstract decoder model (ADM).
With these elements, a standard or new decoder is able to be reconfigured in RVC framework.
This paper presents the procedure of describing a reconfigured decoder in DD, reusing and exchanging tools from VTLs and initializing ADM in the dataflow formalism of RVC framework.
A decoder configuration which can be instantiated as AVS intra decoder configuration or other new decoder configurations in RVC framework is described as an example by using coding tools from China audio video coding standard (AVS) and MPEG series.
It is shown that the process mechanism offered by RVC framework is versatile and flexible to achieve high reusability and exchangeability in decoder configurations.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...] [article] Reconfigurable video coding framework and decoder reconfiguration instantiation of AVS [texte imprimé] / Dandan Ding, Auteur ; Honggang Qi, Auteur ; Lu Yu, Auteur . - pp. 287-299.

Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : AVS1-P2 is a recently completed video compression standard developed by the Audio and Video Coding Standard (AVS) Workgroup of China.
The standard promises comparable compression efficiency to the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video codec with lower implementation complexity and royalty fees.
AVS1-P2 is the Chinese next generation national video coding standard with an increasing amount of industrial importance as it is being required for different applications and services.
It is expected that AVS1-P2 will be prominent in emerging Chinese digital video application markets, especially for personal video recorder (PVR) and video on demand (VOD).
This paper discusses how trick modes for PVR and VOD can be performed with AVS1-P2 content.
It begins with generating an index table to facilitate AVS1-P2 trick modes followed by a discussion of basic and advanced trick modes.
Next, the minimum decoder speed and display frame buffer requirements are analyzed for smooth trick play, especially for 1× rewind.
VOD stream delivery strategies for various trick modes and transitions are then discussed. Finally, an overview of other topics that may affect implementation such as content protection and encoding is provided.
Many of the discussions are also applicable to other video coding standards like MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, etc.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...] [article] AVS trick modes for PVR and VOD services [texte imprimé] / Zhijie Yang, Auteur ; Wade K. Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : AVS1-P2 is the newest video standard of Audio Video coding Standard (AVS) workgroup of China, which provides close performance to H.264/AVC main profile with lower complexity.
In this paper, a platform-independent software package with macroblock-based (MB-based) architecture is proposed to facilitate AVS video standard implementation on embedded system.
Compared with the frame-based architecture, which is commonly utilized for PC platform oriented video applications, the MB-based decoder performs all of the decoding processes, except the high-level syntax parsing, in a set of MB-based buffers with adequate size for saving the information of the current MB and the neighboring reference MBs to minimize the on-chip memory and to save the time consumed in on-chip/off-chip data transfer.
By modifying the data flow and decoding hierarchy, simulating the data transfer between the on-chip memory and the off-chip memory, and modularizing the buffer definition and management for low-level decoding kernels, the MB-based system architecture provides over 80% reduction in on-chip memory compared to the frame-based architecture when decoding 720p sequences.
The storage complexity is also analyzed by referencing the performance evaluation of the MB-based decoder.
The MB-based decoder implementation provides an efficient reference to facilitate development of AVS applications on embedded system.

Titre : An efficient VLSI architecture for CBAC of AVS HDTV decoder Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Junhao Zheng, Auteur ; Wen Gao, Auteur ; Wu, David, Auteur Article en page(s) : pp. 324-332 Note générale : Electronique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : CBAC AVS VLSI HDTV Index. décimale : 621.382 Dispositifs électroniques utilisant les effets des corps solides. Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : Context-based Binary Arithmetic Coding (CBAC) is a normative part of the newest X Profile of Advanced Audio Video coding Standard (AVS).
This paper presents an efficient VLSI architecture for CBAC decoding in AVS.
Compared with CBAC in H.264/AVC, the simpler binarization methods and context selection schemes are adopted in AVS.
In order to avoid the slow multiplications, the traditional arithmetic calculation is transformed to the logarithm domain.
Although these features can obtain better balance between the compression gain and implementation cost, it still brings huge challenge for high-throughput implementation.
The fact that current bin decoding depends on previous bin results in long latency and limits overall system performance.
In this paper, we present a software–hardware co-design by using bin distribution feature.
A novel pipeline-based architecture is proposed where the arithmetic decoding engine works in parallel with the context maintainer.
A finite state machine (FSM) is used to control the decoding procedure flexibly and the context scheduling is organized carefully to minimize the access times of context RAMs.
In addition, the critical path is optimized for the timing.
The proposed implementation can work at 150 MHz and achieve the real-time AVS CBAC decoding for 1080i HDTV video.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...] [article] An efficient VLSI architecture for CBAC of AVS HDTV decoder [texte imprimé] / Junhao Zheng, Auteur ; Wen Gao, Auteur ; Wu, David, Auteur . - pp. 324-332.

Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : In this paper, we propose a robust dual watermarking algorithm for video based on the audio video coding standard (AVS).
One watermark is embedded in luminance components, whose embedding positions are optimized using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique, resisting common signal processing operations such as median filtering, adding noises, cropping and so on.
To combat geometric and re-encoding attacks, the other watermark is embedded in chrominance components by adjusting the energy relationship between Cb and Cr components based on the just noticeable distortion (JND) concept of the human vision system (HVS).
Both of them are implemented in the compressed domain by modifying the quantized coefficients, combined together to satisfy the requirements of robustness and imperceptibility.
Only entropy decoding is required to detect the watermark, and thus the watermark detection process has low computational complexity.
Extensive experimental results show that the high robustness and good quality of watermarked AVS video can be achieved simultaneously.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...] [article] Robust dual watermarking algorithm for AVS video [texte imprimé] / Yuan-Gen Wang, Auteur ; Zhe-Ming Lu, Auteur ; Liang Fan, Auteur . - pp. 333-344.
