Résumé : This paper considers a multi item single period inventory problem with floor space constraint where the demand of the items follows probability distributions. Two different stochastic models are discussed where the demand follows Uniform distribution and Exponential distribution respectively. Firstly the fixed reorder quantity system with backorder and secondly fixed reorder quantity system with lost sales are discussed. Then consideration is adopted as a multi objective stochastic inventory model where average annual cost of the first item as well as the same of the second item are minimized simultaneously and is also formulated in fuzzy environment introducing fuzziness in the objectives. In this paper the concept of General Fuzzy Non-linear Programming Technique is applied to solve a multi objective single period stochastic inventory problem with floor space constraint. The solution is illustrated by numerical example and the results of different models are compared. Résumé : According to behavioral finance theory, investors' irrational behavior and psychology are crucial factors that influence stock prices on limited arbitrage stock market. Relevant attempts have been made to examine the impact of investors' sentiment on stock prices. But most studies focus on the predictability of investors' sentiment which is measured by direct or indirect index. And no results answer whether investors' sentiment is irrational. Nor do they tell how investors' sentiment influences the stock prices. This paper examines the multi-relationship between investors' sentiment, which is measured by the growth rate of investor accounts, and stock returns by the (S)VAR model. The results show that investors' sentiment is influenced by the previous performance of the stock market, which verifies the irrationality of investors' sentiment. The results also show that investor's sentiment has important influence on the contemporaneous and future stock returns. Résumé : This study aims to suggest critical factors to support the decision making about the continuity/closing of a distribution Centre in the CEP (Courrier, Express and Parcel) sector according to location analysis. To reach this, a qualitative approach with a case study about a CEP Portuguese company is presented. Beyond personal interviews with the CEO of the company's operations management a set of data were collected from company’s internal documents, publications, reports and studies of the CEP sector. The data analysis shows that the Distribution Centre (DC) in question presents a more positive performance than others when compared with the global DC network, so it should continue with its operations. These findings suggest also that CEO's of CEP Sector need to pay attention to a set of critical factors in the decision making about the best choice to a DC location. The qualitative analysis engages the following factors suggested by the literature review: proximity to the customers, distribution costs, and implementation costs. The results support also the necessity to identify other critical factors of multiple levels to help in the decision of a DC location. There is a lack of researches that include a qualitative approach on choice of a DC location and in particular about CEP sector. This research can be seen as a further step to provide an alternative approach to the study and development of the enterprises decision making on DC location. Résumé :
This paper employs a mathematical model to improve the effectiveness of preventive maintenance. The study focuses on using real data of a feed pump (FP) in a petroleum refinery plant to test the effectiveness of the PM model and its impact on both reliability and maintainability. The model is tested for different scenarios by changing one of the main variables each time. These scenarios are developed using different values of failure rate to determine the steady state probability at normal operation. This will allow obtaining the best scheduling time for PM and improving the reliability of the feed pump. The timing of the preventive maintenance is essential to reduce system failure and corrective maintenance. The model helps to find good and decisive time, when the preventive maintenance work is superior rather than having a corrective action to repair the feed pump. This model supports the plant for sustainability and cost effectiveness with good timing and effective PM. Therefore, at high failure rate the probability of the Feed Pump failure will increase. In this case the availability of the Feed Pump will decrease, indicating that there is a need to perform PM works on the system. The results show that the life span of the system is extended with proposed PM model. Accordingly, increasing the reliability will increase the operational life cycle by reducing failures during operations, hence reducing the total costs by improving the availability.DEWEY : 658 ISSN : 1750-9653 En ligne : http://www.ijmsem.org/OnlineJournal.do/?152.html [article] A case study on improving the effectiveness of preventive maintenance [texte imprimé] / Ibrahim A. Résumé : Competitive market is forcing big organizations to utilize the untapped potential of Medium Size Manufacturing Enterprises (MSME). In the era of outsourcing, MSMEs are the important links in the supply chain, making it more effective and effcient. The new competition is in terms of reduced cost, improved quality products with higher performance, a wider range of products and better services, all delivered simultaneously to enhance value to the customer. MSMEs play an important role in Indian economy and with the liberalization facing tremendous challenges, but their strength lies in the competitiveness of their products in the world market. Lean manufacturing system (LMS) is characterized by shorter product development and manufacturing lead-time, team based work organizations, low setup/changeover times, multifunctional workers and JIT deliveries from few reliable suppliers. But the concepts of LMS are not well adopted in MSMEs. LMS as a manufacturing strategy can help a MSME to improve its processes and align it to the requirements of its customers. LMS has a set of tools and techniques; the choice is situation specific. MSMEs have the required structure for implementing Lean Manufacturing System. This paper discusses the issues of MSMEs and presents a case to demonstrate the improvements achieved in an Indian mid size auto component’s manufacturing unit after the implementation of LMS. Résumé : In the globalized world, the use of information technology becomes a commonplace in business and hence the competition among the business organizations becomes borderless, extensive and complicated to a greater extent. It is very intricate for the organizations to choose the best vendor from the massive market with enormous specifications. To overcome the challenges of satisfying current and attracting potential customers, it is mandatory for the organizations to choose the most effcient strategy for vendor selection. Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is applied to solve this purpose even though it is ineffcient, inaccurate and time consuming when a huge number of vendors need to be judged with myriad number of criteria and sub-criteria. With the aim of selecting the best vendor effectively and efficiently, this paper has presented a newly vendor selection using fuzzy integration (VSFI) algorithm by integrating fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm with analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The experimental analysis proves the superior performance of the proposed VSFI algorithm over AHP when a huge number of vendors with their immense specification sheet are required to find out the best vendor within an astonishing short time. Résumé : This paper proposes a full fuzzy TOPSIS as an optimization model for railway signaling system selection issue. The study is a new approach to such problems in railway domain. Analysis of the obtained results is explained and they indicate that the proposed approach as full fuzzy decision support model is a feasible and practical approach. The approach needs no defuzzification and it considers both the qualitative and quantitative. The fuzzy approach is employed to cope with imprecision in the assessment of the relative importance of criteria and alternatives. In proposed method given a linguistic verbal judgment matrix, fuzzy normalized judgment matrix is constructed by implementing a new developed normalization method. Then the fuzzy scores of the alternatives are determined based on solving of a non-linear programming model. Finally the ranks of the alternatives are determined through a fuzzy ranking method. The aforementioned algorithm was applied in one of the railway lines of Iran.
