Titre : An algorithm of workforce scheduling for maintenance optimization Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Sakon Wongmongkolrit, Auteur ; Bordin Rassameethes, Auteur Année de publication : 2011 Article en page(s) : pp.163-169 Note générale : Management Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Workforce scheulding Personal assignment Optimal maintenance policy Résumé : Workforce scheduling for maintenance and personal assignment concept are very important for all manufacturers. Most of them have to ensure that their staffs are to be fitted to their jobs and responsibilities. Especially, the maintenance approach may require amount appropriate workforce or manpower for doing both of preventive and corrective maintenance activities, whilst the maintenance scheduling and algorithm concept are useful for solving and fitting the personal assignment, with neither of overstaffing nor understaffing. Our concept and algorithm have developed from previous research studies and fulfilled the niches of those studies such as the complying to the labor law (the consecutive day work and day off), the mixture policy of preventive and corrective maintenance, probabilistic failure rate and deterministic of staff assignment, cyclic shift working and equality of staffs' day off on weekend. However, we did not avoid minimizing labour cost, and utilized worker activities. So, our algorithm will be a new managerial solution for all manufacturers who have a problem with their maintainability about staff assignment. Especially, the manufacturers who have continuously worked 24 hours and 7 days, without any vacations such as airport, mass rapid transit, Just-In-Time manufacturer and so on. Most of them might be gotten the benefit and taken an advantage from this research study. Furthermore, our concept and algorithm of staff assignment can be applied to the service sector's personal required for each shift and each day which is conformed to the probabilistic of customers' demand for each period. As inflation increases the value of money goes down and it erodes the future worth of savings and forces one for more current spending. Usually, these spending are on peripherals and luxury items that give rise to demand of these items. In this paper, we intend to develop an inventory model for deteriorating items under inflationary conditions using a discounted cash flow (DCF) approach over a finite planning horizon. The demand rate is a function of inflation. In real life systems, some but not all customers will wait for the next order to satisfy their demands during stockout period. This situation is modeled by the consideration of partial backordering under negative exponential distribution of waiting time. An algorithm is developed to find optimal policy and the sensitivity analysis is studied with the help of numerical examples. From the perspective of ultimate ownership structure, by tracing the identity of large shareholders, we find that most of Chinese private listed firms have a ultimate controlling shareholder. This study investigates both the impact of cash flow right and the divergence between the control right and cash flow right of ultimate controlling shareholder on firm performance, and the constraint effect of free cash flows on ultimate controlling shareholders' entrenchment behaviors. We find that the cash flow right and firm performance are significantly positively related, and there is an "incentive effect" for ultimate controlling shareholders; the ivergence between the control right and cash flow right is significantly negatively associated with firm performance, and ultimate controlling shareholders have an "entrenchment effect" on firms; Further, we find that ultimate controlling shareholders' entrenchment behavior occurs only when they have the "ability" and "motivation", and the "opportunity" of having sufficient free cash flows. Therefore, lower free cash flows can efficiently constrain such entrenchment behaviors of ultimate controlling shareholders. Reliability based maintenance provides sound guidance for managers who wish to attain high standards of maintenance at their operating
systems. Basically, the amount and the type of maintenance applied for the system depend strongly on the age of components of a machinery system. The present paper describes a production policy (resumption and non-resumption) in order to find out an optimal safety stock, production lotsize and reliability parameters. A production-inventory model with stochastic machine breakdown and its corrective and regular (preventive) repairs with safety stock has been developed incorporating variable reliability parameters. The reliability parameter (ө) is a design variable. Learning effects result in the cost of technology for the design variable which is an decreasing function of (ө) and this, in turn, has an impact on the average cost. Hence the setting of optimal values of reliability parameters and production lotsize with safety stock needs to be considered jointly that achieves the smallest average integrated costs. The Kuhn-Tucker method is used to obtain an optimal solution for reliability parameters, production lotsize and safety stock. Finally, numerical examples with sensitivity analysis of key parameters are given to illustrate the proposed model. Several graphical llustrations of the model are given.DEWEY : 658 ISSN : 1750-9653 En ligne : http://www.ijmsem.org/OnlineJournal.do/?133.html [article] Optimal reliability, production lotsize and safety stock : an economic manufacturing quantity model [texte imprimé] / Biswajit Sarkar, Auteur ; Shib Sankar Sana, Auteur ; Kripasindhu Chaudhuri, Auteur . - 2011 . - pp.192-202.

In this paper, risk attitudes of both
buyers and manufacturer/dealers to lifetime warranty policies are discussed. In line with Chun and Tang (1995) [2], Risk models are developed for products with time dependent failure intensity (rate). These models have been proposed with Non homogeneous Poisson's process for failure intensity function, a constant repair cost, and concave utility function. Using the exponential utility function, the decision models are developed to maximise the manufacturer/dealer's certainty profit equivalent. Risk preference models are developed to find the optimal warranty price through the use of the manufacturer's utility function for profit and the buyer's utility function for repair costs. Finally, the sensitivity of the warranty price models is analysed using numerical examples.DEWEY : 658 ISSN : 1750-9653 En ligne : http://www.ijmsem.org/OnlineJournal.do/?134.html [article] Modelling risks to manufacturer and buyer for lifetime warranty policies [texte imprimé] / Anisur Rahman, Auteur ; Gopinath Chattopadhyay, Auteur . - 2011 . - pp.203-209.

This paper is geared toward the development of generic self-assessment model for SMEs to determine their performance in NPD practices. It reviews a list of sixteen elements under five decision areas as advocated in literature that affect NPD practices. Incorporated the findings of focus group interviews with industry practitioners and experts, a self-assessment model of NPD performance is devised using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach. The conduct of the exploratory study is presented to illustrate how the decision/performance criteria be prioritised and the scoring guidelines be established. It is anticipated that the findings would drive the self-assessment initiatives of NPD in SMEs and provide them with a feasible means to amalgamate strategies and actions. Further research is needed to investigate into the applicability of the model with empirical evidence in industry. Not many works have been done in this field; the necessity of more researches for finding better solutions is the main motivation to implement the heuristic and meta- euristic algorithms. So, considering both preventive maintenance (PM) and sequence-dependent setup times in production planning horizon
simultaneously, which a few works have been done in this field, can strongly influence on the efficiency of manufacturing environments.
Six heuristic algorithms (SMPT, LMPT, Johnson, CDS, Palmer, and MNEH) that consider modified processing time are presented. Additionally, two meta-heuristic algorithms, the variable neighborhood search (VNS) algorithm and the genetic algorithm (GA), are applied to solve such problems. The purpose of this survey is to evaluate the performance of the heuristic and meta-heuristic algorithms for the proposed scheduling problem. The computational result shows the efficiency of the proposed solution methods.DEWEY : 658 ISSN : 1750-9653 En ligne : http://www.ijmsem.org/OnlineJournal.do/?136.html [article] Flexible flow shop with sequence-dependent setup times and machine availability constraints [texte imprimé] / Nikbakhsh Javadian, Auteur ; Mehdi Amiri-Aref, Auteur ; Ali Hadighi, Auteur . - 2011 . - pp.219-226.

We propose a two-stage supply chain model which involves determining simultaneously the best sites for the distribution centers and determining capacity for distribution centers and the best strategy for distributing the product from the suppliers to the distribution centers and from distribution centers to the customers and the routes of the vehicles. Each customer's demand is uncertain and follows a normal distribution. For the first time in the location-routing problem, we introduce a new solution methodology that adopts from the finance literature, to optimize the Value-at-Risk (VaR) measure in our problem.A heuristic method is developed for solving the problem.
