Ponts et charpentes Résumé : A softened strut-and-tie macro model able to reproduce the flexural behaviour of external beam-column joint is presented. The model is specific for concrete with hooked steel fibres (FRC) and it is designed to calculate the flexural response, as load-deflection curve, of a beam-column sub-assemblages. The model considers the presence of a constant vertical load acting on the column and of a monotonically increasing lateral force applied at the tip of the beam. Titre : The effect of the number of strengthening layers on the FRP-concrete bond behaviour Titre original : Effet du nombre de couches de renforcement sur l'adhérence FRP et béton Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Claudio Mazzotti, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : pp. 1277-1296 Note générale : Génie Civil Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : FRP Concrete Bond Experimental test Fracture energy Multiple layers Index. décimale : 624 Constructions du génie civil et du bâtiment. Infrastructures. Ouvrages en terres. Fondations. Tunnels. Ponts et charpentes Résumé : Bonding is a very important issue when Fiber Reinforced Composites (FRP) are used to strengthen reinforced concrete beams. Bonding depends on the mechanical and physical properties of concrete, composite and adhesive. A number of studies have been published concerning the investigation of the relationship between these aspects and the ultimate debonding strain, demonstrating its crucial role. At the same time, when the strengthening system is composed of multiple layers of FRP, it is common practice to sum up the thickness of each layer and introduce the result in the predictive formulas, like it was only one layer. It is not clear if this procedure can be done without any modification to the bond predictive laws. The present experimental study is mainly devoted to the investigation of the FRP-concrete debonding process when a variable number of FRP layers are considered. The results have been compared with the predictive formulas by the Italian Guidelines, showing their reliability. Finally, the dependency of the fracture energy of multiple-layers reinforcement from its axial stiffness has been observed. Infrastructures. Ouvrages en terres. Fondations. Tunnels. Ponts et charpentes Résumé : This paper aims at presenting the results of two experimental tests concerning the cyclic behaviour of a dissipative column-to-foundation connection for precast concrete elements. The tested joints are characterized by the use of high strength threaded steel bars partially un-bonded in grouted sleeves and by steel support elements which allow an easy assemblage and centering of the column. The two specimens differ in bar number and bar diameter of the un-bonded high-strength bars adopted to restore the flexural continuity. The experimental results are compared to the response of a pocket foundation joint and they show a good performance of the joint in term of resistance, ductility, cycle stability and energy dissipation. The specimen damage is localized at the column base thus allowing a simple retrofitting after a seismic event. Infrastructures. Ouvrages en terres. Fondations. Tunnels. Ponts et charpentes Résumé : This study focuses on the design and experimental assessment of the behaviour of friction dampers to be used along the edges of cladding panels in precast r/c buildings. The concept and design of such devices is based on a no-slip requirement under wind and moderate earthquake loadings, while allowing large displacements and consequent significant energy dissipation due to friction for higher intensity earthquakes. Elements were custom-built by assembling, through bolted connections, of steel profiles, in case with interposed brass plates, to obtain a more stable response under cyclic loadings. An experimental investigation has been performed in order to characterize the behaviour of these devices under cyclic loadings, including the displacement rate effect. The work is intended as prodromal to a wider assessment of the seismic behaviour of precast r/c structures with friction damping panel-edge connections. Ponts et charpentes Résumé : This paper presents a model for fiber-reinforced cementitious composites (FRCCs) based on a cohesive-frictional interface theory. A zero-thickness joint model is formulated for simulating the fracture behaviour of interfaces between the various phases of fiber-reinforced concretes. In particular, the “Mixture Theory” is used for describing the coupled action between concrete and fibers. Numerical analyses have been carried out on both plain concrete and FRCC members. Comparisons between numerical simulation and experimental evidence demonstrate the accuracy and soundness of the proposed formulation. Ponts et charpentes Résumé : The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment initiated a project to reevaluate the carrying capacity of existing bridges and viaducts through the use of nonlinear finite element analyses (NLFEA) which are more and more becoming an usual instrument of calculation in the daily design procedures. Numerical simulations of several case studies taken from experimental programs have therefore been performed in order to assess and criticize the finite element approaches. In this paper guidelines for nonlinear finite element analyses are proposed to optimize the results obtained from numerical simulations of reinforced and pre-stressed beams in order to reduce model and users factor. The numerical results are also compared with analytical procedures proposed by the new Model Code 2010 which proposes different numerical and analytical procedures to evaluate the carrying capacity of existing structures based on the definition of different safety levels.
