| Résumé : | The composition of the essential oils of Aiouea costaricensis growing wild in Costa Rica was determined by capillary GC-FID and GC/MS. Seventy-five and fifty-two compounds were identified in the leaf and branch oils, respectively, corresponding to about 95.9% and 90.9% of the total amount of the oils. The leaf oil consists mainly of monoterpene hydrocarbons (30.5%), sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (36.3%) and oxygenated sesquiterpenes (24.5%). The major components of the leaf oil were α-pinene (14.5%), β-pinene (14.0%) and β-caryophyllene (12.0%). The branch oil consists mainly of monoterpene hydrocarbons (46.2%), sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (22.2%) and oxygenated sesquiterpenes (16.4%). The major components of the branch oil were also α-pinene (23.1%), β-pinene (20.2%). |
