Titre : Analyses of the volatile compounds of callitris columellaris F. muell. needles from two different regions of Nigeria Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Isiaka, A. Ogunwande, Auteur ; Nureni O. Olawore, Auteur ; Kasali A. Adeleke, Auteur Année de publication : 2006 Article en page(s) : pp. 44-46 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Callitris columellaris Cupressaceae Essential oil composition Limonene Bornyl acetate Résumé : Volatile compounds from the leaves of Callitris columellaris F. Muell. collected from Ibadan (southwest) and Kaduna (north central), Nigeria, were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The predominant compounds were limonene (37.2%) and bornyl acetate (27.1%), respectively, for samples from Ibadan and Kaduna. The observed compositional pattern in the two samples may suggest the existence of chemical race within the Nigerian-grown C. columellaris considering the different ecological and climatic conditions between the two cities. Precocene I (78.8%) was the most singly abundant constituent, with a significant proportion of β-caryophyllene (5.3%). With the exception of valencene and cadalene, all other constituents were present in amount less than 1%. The large content of precocene I in the oil is of taxonomic interest. Br. ex R.T. Baker. et H.G. Smith (Cupressaceae) and Ficus mucosa Welw. ex Ficalho (Moraceae), were analyzed for their constituents by GC and GC/MS.
The volatile oil of Com. kerstingii contained (Z)-α-bisabolene (34.9%), β-bisabolene (9.3%), linalool (8.7%) and trans-α-bergamotene (7.9%) as the major constituents.
On the other hand, the leaf oil of M. indica possessed a considerable proportion of α-gurjunene (23.6%), β-selinene (20.6%), β-caryophyllene (11.2%) and α-humulene (10.8%), while C. glauca had an abundance of a-pinene (19.6%) and limonene (13.1%).
In addition, β-caryophyllene (37.0%), ethyl octanoate (14.9%) and methyl octanoate (8.3%) were the compounds occurring in higher percentages in the leaf oil of F. mucosa.DEWEY : 665 ISSN : 1041-2905 En ligne : http://www.jeoronline.com/archive/detail/42#top [article] Constituents of some essential oil bearing plants from Nigeria [texte imprimé] / Isiaka, A.
