Titre : Anti-tuberculosis activity of daucus littoralis sibth. et sm. (Apiaceae) from Turkey Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Kemal Husnu Can Baser, Auteur ; Mine Kürkçüoglu, Auteur ; Tulin Askun, Auteur Article en page(s) : pp. 572-575 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Daucus littoralis Anti-tuberculosis Mycobacterium tuberculosis Index. décimale : 646 Résumé : In the course of screening for anti-mycobacterial activity, the authors detected significant activity in the essential oil of Daucus littoralis Sibth. et Sm. Composition of the oil was characterized by gas chromatographic (GC) and gas chromatographic/mass spectrometric (GC/MS) analyses.
The genus Daucus (Apiaceae) is represented in Turkey by six species, one being endemic, D. conchiteae W. Greuter. Daucus carota L. is a well-known species whose roots are used as food and whose fruit oil is used in perfumery (7,8).
Air-dried aerial parts of D. littoralis were subjected to water distillation using a Clevenger-type apparatus.
The essential oil yield was 0.2% on dry weight basis.
The main compound in the oil was found as cis-chrysanthenyl acetate (46.8%).
The aim of this study was to determine new potent anti-mycobacterial compounds for the treatment of tuberculosis.DEWEY : 665 ISSN : 1041-2905 En ligne : http://www.jeoronline.com/archive/detail/42#top [article] Anti-tuberculosis activity of daucus littoralis sibth. et sm. Titre : Comparison of microwave-assisted hydrodistillation and hydrodistillation methods for the fruit essential oils of foeniculum vulgare Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Müberra Koşar, Auteur ; Temel Ozek, Auteur ; Mine Kürkçüoglu, Auteur Année de publication : 2007 Article en page(s) : pp. 426-429 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Foeniculum vulgare Apiaceae Fennel Microwave-assisted hydrodistillation Hydrodistillation Essential oil composition (E)-anethole Résumé : Microwave-assisted hydrodistillation (MWHD) and hydrodistillation (HD) were carried out for the analysis of volatile components in whole and ground fruits of Foeniculum vulgare Miller (fennel). Fruits were distilled using a microwave oven modified to fit a Clevenger-type apparatus. The effect of microwave energy on the yield and composition of the essential oil was investigated against the classical hydrodistillation. All the essential oils were analyzed by GC-FID and GC/MS. (E)-anethole was found as the main compound in the oils of both whole and ground materials (82.2–86.8%) using the two methods. Methyl chavicol (4.0–4.9%) and limonene (2.2–4.9%) were also found in fennel oils obtained by HD and MWHD. The amounts of identified components in the oils obtained from whole and ground fennel fruits were not affected significantly by microwave energy except for limonene.
