The essential oil of the aerial parts of Caryopteris grata Benth. (syn. Caryopteris mastacanthus DC.) was analyzed by GC and GC/MS.
A total of thirty-nine compounds were identified, comprising 86.1% of the oil.
The oil was characterized by an almost exclusive content of sesquiterpenoids dominated by spathulenol (30.1%).
Other constituents in significant amount were humulene epoxide II (8.4%), epi-α-cadinol (6.8%), a-muurolol (6.1%), α-humulene (5.0%), α-selinene (3.6%), (Z)-α-bisabolene (3.1%), germacrene D-4-ol (3.0%) and β-caryophyllene (2.5%). |
