Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : By optimizing the variable filter coefficients through calculating Wiener–Hopf equations for each picture, the adaptive-interpolated prediction can significantly improve the coding efficiency.
However, compared with the fixed coefficient interpolation filtering, this technique adds a huge amount of complexities in implementation.
To reduce the complexity of the interpolating unit, this paper proposes a sub-pixel interpolation scheme, which is called combined adaptive-fixed Interpolation (CAFI) with multi-directional filters.
Compared evaluations of the hardware complexity as well as the coding efficiency are given.
The results show that the CAFI has lower complexity and a stable high coding efficiency for test sequences.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...] [article] Combined adaptive-fixed interpolation with multi-directional filters [texte imprimé] / Zhongmou Wu, Auteur ; Yun He, Auteur . - pp. 277-286.

Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : Adaptively selecting the filter coefficients for interpolating fractional pixels (sub-pel) can significantly improve the quality of reference pictures.
However, the complexity of implementation is greatly increased by performing motion estimation (ME) and mode decision (MD) for multiple passes.
This paper briefly introduces the adaptive interpolation filter (AIF) technique and proposes a refined ME strategy for realizing the AIF process with low complexity.
By using this method, the 2-pass encoding procedure can be avoided while the coding efficiency of the AIF is maintained.
The proposed method is implemented and verified on the AVS video software platform.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...] [article] A refined motion estimation strategy for adaptive interpolation filter [texte imprimé] / Xiaozhong Xu, Auteur ; Zhongmou Wu, Auteur ; Yun He, Auteur . - 2010 . - pp. 121-129.

Titre : A VLSI-oriented algorithm and its implementation for AVS chroma interpolation Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Bingqiang Zhu, Auteur ; Yun He, Auteur ; Shunliang Mei, Auteur Article en page(s) : pp. 682-690 Note générale : Electronique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : AVS Bilinear filtering Chroma Interpolation VLSI Index. décimale : 621.382 Dispositifs électroniques utilisant les effets des corps solides. Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : AVS (audio video coding standard) is the latest multimedia coding standard of China.
Similar to H.264/AVC, AVS adopted the technology of fractional-pel-accurate motion compensation, which enhanced the compression efficiency.
To obtain fractional pels, 4-tap FIR filters and bilinear filters are used for luma and chroma interpolation respectively.
Unlike the VLSI-optimized FIR filters which could be implemented by adders and shifters, the bilinear filter for chroma is not so convenient for direct VLSI implementation due to its multiplications.
In this paper, we propose a VLSI-oriented algorithm named SHAM (x–y-separated halved-approaching method) to accomplish the bilinear filtering.
The proposed SHAM algorithm adopts a halved-approaching method which is an addition-and-shift-only method and with simpler data path.
VLSI structures are also provide to implement the SHAM algorithm in this paper.
Experiments based on UMC View the MathML source process show that the SHAM algorithm could be implemented with about 48% less silicon area or at doubled frequency compared with the direct implementation of the bilinear filter.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...] [article] A VLSI-oriented algorithm and its implementation for AVS chroma interpolation [texte imprimé] / Bingqiang Zhu, Auteur ; Yun He, Auteur ; Shunliang Mei, Auteur . - pp. 682-690.
