Titre : Heat and mass transfer on the MHD fluid flow due to a porous rotating disk with hall current and variable properties Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Mustafa Turkyilmazoglu, Auteur Année de publication : 2011 Article en page(s) : pp. [021701/1-6] Note générale : Physique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Rotating disk Conducting fluid Variable properties Joule heating Shear stress Heat transfer Index. décimale : 536 Chaleur. Thermodynamique Résumé : The steady magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) laminar compressible flow of an electrically conducting fluid on a porous rotating disk is considered in the present paper. The governing equations of motion are reduced to a set of nonlinear differential equations by means of similarity transformations. The fluid properties are taken to be strong functions of temperature and Hall current that also readily accounts for the viscous dissipation and Joule heating terms. Employing a highly accurate spectral numerical integration scheme, the effects of viscosity, thermal conductivity, Hall current, magnetic field, suction/injection, viscous dissipation, and Joule heating on the considered flow are examined. The quantities of particular physical interest, such as the torque, the wall shear stresses, the vertical suction velocity, and the rate of heat transfer are calculated and discussed.

Thermodynamique Résumé : An unsteady flow and heat transfer of an incompressible electrically conducting fluid over a porous rotating infinite disk impulsively set into motion are studied in the present paper. The disk finds itself subjected to a uniform normal magnetic field. The particular interest lies in searching for the effects of an imposed uniform outer radial flow far above the disk on the behavior of the physical flow. The governing Navier–Stokes and Maxwell equations of the hydromagnetic fluid, together with the energy equation, are converted into self-similar forms using suitable similarity transformations. A compact, unconditionally stable, and highly accurate implicit spectral numerical integration algorithm is then employed in order to resolve the transient behavior of the velocity and temperature fields. The time evolution and steady state case of some parameters of fundamental physical significance such as the surface shear stresses in the radial and tangential directions and the heat transfer rate are also fully examined for the entire family of magnetic interaction, radial flow, and suction/blowing parameters.

Note générale : heat transfer Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : stretching surface; slip flow; magnetohydrodynamics; viscoelasticity; multiple solutions; heat transfer; mass transfer Index. décimale : 536 Chaleur. Thermodynamique Résumé : This paper focuses on the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) slip flow of an electrically conducting, viscoelastic fluid past a stretching surface. The main concern is to analytically investigate the structure of the solutions and determine the thresholds beyond which multiple solutions exist or the physically pure exponential type solution ceases to exist. In the case of the presence of multiple solutions, closed-form formulae for the boundary layer equations of the flow are presented for two classes of viscoelastic fluid, namely, the second-grade and Walter's liquid B fluids. Heat transfer analyzes are also carried out for two general types of boundary heating processes, either by a prescribed quadratic power law surface temperature or by a prescribed quadratic power law surface heat flux. The flow field is affected by the presence of several physical parameters, whose influences on the unique/multiple solutions of velocity and temperature profiles, and Nusselt numbers are examined and discussed.
