Titre : Chemical composition and antioxidant activities of the essential oils of different parts of cupressus arizonica greene Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Seyyed Ahmad Emami, Auteur ; M. Fakhrjafary, Auteur ; M. Tafaghodi, Auteur Année de publication : 2010 Article en page(s) : pp. 193 - 199 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Cupressus arizonica Cupressaceaes Essential oil composition α-pinene Myrcene p-cymene Antioxidant activity Index. décimale : 646 Résumé : The essential oils of different parts of Cupressus arizonica were examined for their potential radical scaveng- ing activity.
Fresh leaves and fruits of C. arizonica were steam distilled and the oils were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by GC and GC/MS.
Different methods of rapid TLC screening, DPPH assay, desoxyribose assay, assay for site-specific reaction and non-enzymatic lipid peroxidation were employed to evaluate possible antioxidant activity of the oils and their main components, as well as the positive controls.
The main components of these essential oils were a-pinene, cymene, myrcene, limonene, sabinene hydrate, cedrane and germacrene D.
In rapid TLC screening, the tested compounds mainly showed antioxidant activity.
In DPPH assay the stronger antioxidant effects were shown by the fruit oil of C. arizonia.
In deoxyribose degradation assay test, most of the tested compounds showed some antioxidant effects.
In non-enzymatic lipid peroxidation test, most antioxidant activity was shown by the fruit oil.DEWEY : 665 ISSN : 1041-2905 En ligne : http://www.jeoronline.com/archive/detail/51 [article] Chemical composition and antioxidant activities of the essential oils of different parts of cupressus arizonica greene [texte imprimé] / Seyyed Ahmad Emami, Auteur ; M. Chemical constituents of the obtained oils were analyzed by GC, GC/MS, GC/FTIR and 13C-NMR.
The major components of the leaf oil of Juniperus polycarpos var. polycarpos were α-pinene (32.3%), cedrol (13.1%), β-elemene (3.7%), myrcene (3%), β-bisabolene (2.9%) and limonene (2.8%); whereas, the fruit oil contained α-pinene (47.6%), cedrol (12.0%), myrcene (5.1%), germacrene B (3.2%) and β-pinene (2.7%).DEWEY : 665 ISSN : 1041-2905 En ligne : http://www.jeoronline.com/archive/detail/50 [article] Chemical composition of the essential oils from iranian conifers. part I, Aroma profiles of leaves and fruits of juniperus polycarpos var. polycarpos (Cupressaceae) [texte imprimé] / Seyyed Ahmad Emami, Auteur ; Suleiman Afsharypuor, Auteur ; Javad Asili, Auteur . - pp. 103-106.
