Thermodynamique Résumé : This study presents a computational investigation of forced convection of supercritical CO2 flow in plane symmetric sudden expansion duct at an expansion ratio of 2 in flow asymmetric regime. Computations were conducted at various Reynolds numbers in flow asymmetric regime and low wall heat fluxes below 500 W/m2 to examine the Reynolds number and thermal effects on the flow and heat transfer of the bifurcated flow. General flow features and temperature distributions are presented. The transitional Reynolds numbers above, which a third recirculation region will appear at different wall heat flux are presented, and thus thermal effects on the flow stability are discussed. Reynolds number and thermal effects on distributions of wall skin friction, pressure coefficient, and Nusselt number are presented and discussed.

Note générale : fluids engineering Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : flow (dynamics); fluids; fibers; Reynolds number Résumé : An experimental study is carried out to investigate the effects of microglass fiber suspensions in the non-Newtonian fluids in a gap between an inner rotating sphere and an outer whole stationary sphere. In the experiments, the microglass fibers with different aspect ratios are mixed with a macromolecule polymeric fluid to obtain different suspension fluids. For comparison, a Newtonian fluid and the non-Newtonian polymeric fluid are also studied. The stationary torques of the inner sphere that the test fluids acted on are measured under conditions of various concentric spherical gaps and rotational Reynolds numbers. It is found that the polymeric fluid could be governed by the Couette flow at a gap ratio of less than 0.42 and the Reynolds number of less than 100, while the fiber-suspended polymeric fluids could expand the Couette flow region more than the Reynolds number of 100 at the same gap ratios. Titre : Investigation of dry ice blockage in an ultra-low temperature cascade refrigeration system using CO2 as a working fluid Titre original : Etude sur le blocage par la neige carbonique d'un système frigorifique en cascade à très basse température utilisant le CO2 comme fluide actif Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Hiroshi Yamaguchi, Auteur ; Niu, Xiao-Dong, Auteur ; Kenichi Sekimoto, Auteur Année de publication : 2011 Article en page(s) : pp. 466-475 Note générale : Génie Mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Dry ice Solid-gas flow Ultra-low temperature Refrigeration system-cascade Index. décimale : 621.5 Energie pneumatique. Machinerie et outils. Réfrigération Résumé : Dry ice blockage in a CO2-solid–gas-flow-based ultra-low temperature cascade refrigeration system is investigated experimentally by a visualization test and a system study of the liquid CO2 blew into an expansion tube through a Throttle needle valve. The visualization test shows that dry ice sedimentation occurs in low flow velocity and the dry ice formation makes the heat transfer behavior of CO2 complicated. The sedimentation also occurs at low condensation temperature and low heating power input. Based on the present investigation, it is found that the present ultra-low temperature cascade refrigeration system is better to work at heating power input above 900 W and condensation temperature above −20 °C. At suitable operating condition, the present ultra-low temperature cascade refrigeration system has been shown the capability of achieving ultra-low temperature −62 °C continuously and stably. Note générale : Fluids engineering Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Flow visualisation Two-phase flow Index. décimale : 620.1 Essais des matériaux. Défauts des matériaux. Protection des matériaux Résumé : An electromagnetically induced signal measurement method is presented to measure solid-liquid two-phase flows in the present study. The method is validated by comparing visualization results for three flow patterns of “pseudo-homogenous flow,” “heterogeneous flow” and “heterogeneous and sliding-bed flow.” The present method has demonstrated a promising capability of measuring concentration and velocity of solid particles simultaneously with good accuracy.
