| Résumé : | The essential oil of tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia cheel) foliage was isolated by steam distillation and its chemical composition was determined by gas chromatography (GC). The plant material was collected monthly throughout the 2004 season. The chemical composition of tea tree oil throughout the season was determined. The oil complied with the International Standard (ISO 4730 - 1996) and had 1,8-cineole content below 5%. Oil yields were between 3% and 4% and were similar to those reported for the Australian oil of tea tree foliage. |
