Défauts des matériaux. Protection des matériaux Résumé : The color and gloss of brass before and after anti-tarnish treatment were analyzed with color difference meter, and the inhibition effect of 1-phenyl-5-mercapto-tetrazole (PMTA) film on brass was investigated by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). It was found that the treatment with PMTA brought few changes to the original color and gloss of brass. The adsorption of PMTA on brass surface obeyed Langmuir adsorption isotherm, it was a spontaneous and exothermic process accompanied by an increase in entropy. Further, quantum chemical calculation was applied to elucidate the corrosion inhibition mechanism of PMTA on brass surface.

Liang, Auteur ; W. Chen, Auteur ; Huang, N., Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : pp. 155–160 Note générale : Génie mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; electropolymerization; polybithiophene; square wave passivation Résumé : A bilayer coating was prepared by electrodepositing a polybithiophene (PBT) film on the top of square wave passivated 304 stainless steel (304SS). The structure of the PBT layer was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and suggested to be composed of α–α coupling thiophene units. The electrochemical properties of the coating were investigated in 1 mol/L sulfuric acid solution by anodic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. The results indicated that the bilayer could provide an effective barrier and maintain the metal substrate in a passive state during the immersion time. The interfacial shear strength of the polythiophene film on untreated and passivated 304SS were 0.81 and 5.1 MPa, respectively. The better result given by treated one may be due to PBT growing within the pores formed on the square wave passivated 304SS. Liang, Auteur ; Huang, N., Auteur Année de publication : 2010 Article en page(s) : pp. 332–337 Note générale : Génie mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : copper; corrosion; inhibition; SAMs Résumé : The character of 1-dodecanethiol (DT) self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) formed on copper surface in aqueous micellar solution is investigated by means of contact angle measurement, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and polarization curves. The contact angle measurement shows that the SAMs formed in aqueous micellar solution are oriented and compact. According to the electrochemical measurements, it is found that both the concentration of DT and temperature can significantly affect the property of SAMs. The DT SAMs can prevent the corrosion of copper in chloride-containing solution effectively because the inhibition efficiency can reach 99.59% at the DT concentration of 10−2 M. The adsorption of DT in aqueous micellar solution obeys to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, and the value of the free energy of adsorption calculated indicates that the adsorption of DT molecule is a spontaneous process and a typical of chemical adsorption. Titre : A study on the 65-35 brass corrosion inhibitor Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : C. Liang, Auteur ; G. Gao, Auteur ; B. Wu, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : pp. 350–354 Note générale : Génie mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Corrosion; inhibitor; brass; potentiostatic Résumé : The influence of new inhibitor namely 1,3-bis-diethylamino-propan-2-ol (DEAP) on the dezincification corrosion of 65-35 brass in simulated atmospheric water was studied by potentiostatic current transient measurement, solution analysis and surface evaluation techniques. Potentiostatic current transient results showed that the investigated inhibitor can effectively inhibit the chemical dissolution of brass in simulated atmospheric water. Solution analysis revealed that the weigh loss of brass electrode remarkably decreased in the presence of DEAP, changing from 7.375 × 10−3 mg (blank) to 9.567 × 10−4 mg (10−2 M). The scanning electron microscope (SEM) and electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA) measurements showed that DEAP may better adsorb to zinc component than to copper component, inhibiting the dezincification of brass in solution by a mixed complex film of Zn(II)-DEAP and Cu(I)-DEAP. The nature of the inhibited film was analyzed by an X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS) analyzer.
