The components of the essential oil from Abies sachalinensis cones were studied by GC and GC/MS. The oil was characterized by a high content of monoterpenoids (85.4%) and low content of sesquiterpenoids (2.2%). Monoterpene hydrocarbons (40.4%) were the main components, followed by alcohols (27.1%). Ketones, aldehydes and an acetate (4.9%, 3.5% and 8.0%, respectively) were minor components. The main components of the oil were β-pinene (13.3%), β-phellandrene (8.5%), bornyl acetate (8.0%), pinocarveol (7.8%) and α-pinene (6.9%).
