Titre : Developing a cost minimizing power load prediction model for steelwork industries Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jun-Hyung Ryu, Auteur ; Dong Joon Yoo, Auteur ; In-Beum Lee, Auteur Année de publication : 2010 Article en page(s) : pp. 3952–3956 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Minimizing Power Steelwork Industries Résumé : The key issue of power systems is to match power demand and supply with the minimum gap and delay. In the steelmaking industry that is well-known for intensive power demand, multiple types of power supply sources are thus prepared. One is to use gas turbine generators consuming byproduct gases, another is to purchase power from external electricity companies, and yet another is to use in-house self-generators to prevent any interruptions. Because we have to prepare the power supply before demands are actually realized, the fuels for generators should be purchased based upon a relatively long-term plan, and redundant power should be consumed by being resold or in other ways. It is economically important to predict power load accurately for the profitability of the steelworks. A load prediction model is therefore mathematically formulated as a linear programming (LP) problem with a view to minimizing the overall power cost. A case of an actual steelmaking company in Korea is addressed to illustrate the applicability of the proposed model with some remarks. Titre : Developing a planning strategy with a focus on managing planning data Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jun-Hyung Ryu, Auteur Année de publication : 2011 Article en page(s) : pp. 7355-7362 Note générale : Chimie industrielle Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Planning Résumé : Considerable attention has been given to planning in academia. While most works are concerned with developing mathematical models and their computation algorithms, little attention has been given to managing the data in the planning. A new planning framework is thus presented by explicitly incorporating data management with planning decision-making processes. A numerical example of multiperiod batch process planning and a case study of a semiconductor manufacturing company are presented to illustrate the applicability of the presented framework. To take full advantage of the benefits, it is necessary to consider the interacting features between the participating byproduct buyers and sellers in terms of both economic and environmental perspectives. This paper proposes an agent-based modeling framework as an alternative. A case of water reuse networks in an iron and steel manufacturing industrial park is presented to illustrate the applicability of the proposed framework. Titre : Development of a scheduling model for polarizer manufacturing logistics Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Kyung Tae Park, Auteur ; Jun-Hyung Ryu, Auteur ; Ho-Kyung Lee, Auteur Année de publication : 2009 Article en page(s) : pp. 3234–3243 Note générale : Chemical engineering Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Polarizer Liquid crystal displays Linear programming problem Résumé : Polaroid films, or the so-called “polarizer”, is an optical device that transforms natural light into some form of polarized light. When the form of films, it is widely used in thin display equipment, such as liquid crystal displays (LCDs). The polarizer manufacturing industry is under constant competition to lower its price with the continuous price reduction in LCD markets. This paper is particularly concerned with its logistics problems, with a focus on minimizing the cost for purchasing cores used in moving films in the process. The core movement for polarizer logistics is formulated into a linear programming (LP) problem by employing an event-based pull approach that has been proposed earlier by Karimi et al. [Karaimi, I. A.; Sharafali, M.; Mahalingam, H. AIChE J., 2004, 51, 178−197]. Two numerical examples are presented to illustrate the applicability of the proposed model, and some remarks also are made.
