Titre : An experimental study into the evaporation heat transfer and flow characteristics of R-134a refrigerant flowing through corrugated tubes Titre original : Etude expérimentale sur le transfert de chaleur lors de l'évaporation et les caractéristiques d'écoulement du frigorigène R-134a en écoulement à l'intérieur de tubes ondulés Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Suriyan Laohalertdecha, Auteur ; Somchai Wongwises, Auteur Année de publication : 2011 Article en page(s) : pp. 280-291 Note générale : Génie Mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Two-phase flow Pressure Temperature R-134a Heat transfer enhancement Corrugated tube Index. décimale : 621.5 Energie pneumatique. Machinerie et outils. Réfrigération Résumé : The effects of corrugation pitch on the evaporation of R-134a flowing inside horizontal corrugated tubes are investigated. The test section is a tube-in-tube heat exchanger with refrigerant flowing in the inner tube and hot water flowing in the annulus. Smooth and corrugated tubes having similar inside diameters are used as the inner tube. Three corrugated tubes having a corrugation depth fixed at 1.5 mm and corrugation pitches of 5.08, 6.35 and 8.46 mm are examined. The data obtained from smooth tube are plotted and compared with the flow pattern map established by Censi et al. (2003) and Zurcher et al. (2002). The effects of average vapour quality, equivalent Reynolds number and corrugation pitch are discussed. The maximum ratios of heat transfer enhancement factor to pressure drop penalty factor (Nuc/Nus)/((ΔP/L)c/(ΔP/L)s) is approximately 1.2. A short-tube orifice is a kind of an expansion device. The advantages of a short-tube orifice are simplicity, low cost, and low starting torque of the compressor as the pressures across the short-tube orifice equalise during the off-cycle. The two-phase flow mechanisms of refrigerant inside the short-tube orifice are very complicated although its physical configurations are simple. During the past decade, investigations of the mass flow rate of various refrigerants inside short-tube orifices, which is useful for selecting the proper size in practical applications, have been reported by many researchers. However, few researchers focused on the flow pattern, choked flow, and metastable flow phenomena inside short-tube orifices, which are necessary for a clear understanding of the flow behaviour and developing suitable calculation techniques. The aim of this paper is to summarise the evolution of the experimental research on refrigerant flow characteristics inside short-tube orifices to provide guidelines for future research.
