Titre : Characterization of a vapor injection scroll compressor as a function of low, intermediate and high pressures and temperature conditions Titre original : Caractérisation d'un compresseur à spirale à injection de vapeur en fonction des conditions de pressions et de températures basses, moyennes et élevées Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : E. Navarro, Auteur ; A. Redón, Auteur ; José Gonzálvez-Maciá, Auteur Année de publication : 2014 Article en page(s) : pp. 1821–1829 Note générale : Refrigeration Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Compressor; Injection cycle; Economizer; Extreme conditions; Heat pumps Résumé : The interest in two stage cycles has increased in the last years and some compressor manufacturers have commercialized compressors adapted to work in these conditions. Nevertheless, the information supplied by them usually is limited to certain design conditions defined by the application and extrapolation to other conditions is not straightforward. In this article a test campaign of an injection scroll compressor is presented. This test campaign was divided in two parts, on the first one a wide range of evaporating and condensing pressures for the intermediate conditions recommended by the manufacturer were measured, and the compressor behavior was systematically compared with single stage compressor of the same volume. On the second part an experimental study of the influence of the intermediate conditions on the performance have been done. The study has included the evaluation of the separate influence of intermediate gas superheat, intermediate pressure and wet injection. Titre : Impact of classical assumptions in modelling a microchannel gas cooler Titre original : Impact des hypothèses classiques sur la modélisation d'un refroidisseur de gaz à microcanaux Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Santiago Martínez-Ballester, Auteur ; José-M. Corberán, Auteur ; José Gonzálvez-Maciá, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : pp. 1898–1910 Note générale : Génie mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Heat exchanger Modelling Simulation Microchannel Fin Gas cooler Résumé : Most of the current air-to-refrigerant heat exchanger models use the classic ɛ-NTU approach, or some of its assumptions. These models do not account for longitudinal heat conduction in the tube and the fin, and the heat conduction between different tubes. This paper presents a more fundamental numerical approach to heat exchanger modelling which takes into account the 2D longitudinal heat conduction in any element, does not apply the fin theory, and captures a more detailed representation of air properties. Using the fundamental numerical approach, the paper assesses the impact of the traditional heat exchanger model assumptions when modelling a microchannel gas cooler working with CO2. The study revealed significant differences in capacity predictions depending on the ɛ-NTU relationship adopted. Large errors in capacity prediction of individual tubes occurred due to the adiabatic-fin-tip assumption when the neighbouring tubes were of different temperature. Titre : Oil type influence on the optimal charge and performance of a propane chiller Titre original : L'influence du type d'huile sur la charge optimale et la performance d'un refroidisseur au propane Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Israel Martínez-Galván, Auteur ; José Gonzálvez-Maciá, Auteur ; José-M. Corberán, Auteur Année de publication : 2011 Article en page(s) : pp. 1000-1007 Note générale : Génie Mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Propane Water chiller Oil Refrigerating system Refrigerant Charge Index. décimale : 621.5 Energie pneumatique. Machinerie et outils. Réfrigération Résumé : The paper presents the experimental results of a charge optimization study of a water-to-water chiller with two different oils: Mineral and POE. The employed chiller is a prototype which works with propane as refrigerant and provides for a cooling capacity of approximately 16 kW. A complete charge optimization study was performed for two different oils: mineral ISO-VG 68 and POE ISO-VG 22. The study covered a wide range of variation of condensation temperatures, all around the typical operating conditions for AC applications. The obtained performance and compressor efficiencies are studied and discussed to explain the observed differences due to the oil type. The main conclusions are that the optimal charge is strongly different, depending on the solubility of the refrigerant into the oil, and that the POE oil seems to lead to better unit performance.
