Ponts et charpentes Résumé : An elastoplastic continuum model is developed for the investigation of the susceptibility of almost saturated granular materials to liquefaction under undrained isotropic compression. The model was successfully validated against published experimental results on cyclic isotropic compression of sand. As both the experiments and model show, the most critical parameters affecting sand's susceptibility to liquefaction is its density and the initial confining pressure.
