Titre : Effects of storage on flow and heat transfer characteristics of ice slurry Titre original : Effets du stockage sur l'écoulement et les caractéristiques du transfert de chaleur d'un coulis de glace Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Hiroyuki Kumano, Auteur ; Tetsuo Hirata, Auteur ; Yosuke Hagiwara, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : pp. 122–129 Note générale : Génie mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Ice slurry Storage Pressure drop Heat transfer coefficient Laminar flow Turbulent flow Résumé : The effect of storage on flow and heat transfer characteristics of ice slurry was investigated experimentally. After ice slurry had been stored in the storage tank, variations in ice particle size were measured using a microscope, and diameter distribution and average diameter determined. The ice packing factor, Reynolds number and storage time were varied as experimental parameters. The pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient were measured when the ice slurry flowed in the horizontal tube. For laminar flow, the ratios of pipe friction and heat transfer coefficient decreased with storage time. For more than 12 h storage time, the ice slurry could not flow in the tube. The adhesion between ice particles seemed to cause a blockage in the tube. On the other hand, for turbulent flow, the pipe friction and ice slurry heat transfer coefficients were similar to that of the ethanol solution, and the storage effect was insignificant. Titre : Experimental study on heat transfer characteristics of ice slurry Titre original : Etude expérimentale sur les caractéristiques de transfert de chaleur des coulis de glace Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Hiroyuki Kumano, Auteur ; Tetsuo Hirata, Auteur ; Ryouta Shouji, Auteur Année de publication : 2011 Article en page(s) : pp. 1540-1549 Note générale : Génie Mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Ice slurry Melting Heat transfer coefficient Laminar flow Turbulent flow Index. décimale : 621.5 Energie pneumatique. Machinerie et outils. Réfrigération Résumé : Heat transfer characteristics of ice slurry were investigated experimentally. The Reynolds number, diameter of the tubes and ice packing factor (IPF) were varied as experimental parameters. For laminar flow, it was found that the ratio of the Nusselt numbers increased with the IPF, and an approximation equation of the Nusselt number could be derived using the apparent Reynolds number, IPF and the ratio of the average diameter of the ice particles to the diameter of the test tube. For turbulent flow, the ratio of the Nusselt numbers was 1 for each condition in the case of a low IPF. However, the ratio of the Nusselt numbers increased with the IPF in the high-IPF region. Moreover, the apparent Reynolds number, which can be derived by treating the ice slurry as a pseudoplastic fluid, can be used to determine the condition under which variation in the heat transfer characteristics of ice slurry in turbulent flow occurs. Titre : Experimental study on the flow and heat transfer characteristics of a tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide hydrate slurry (first report: Flow characteristics) Titre original : Etude expérimentale sur les caractéristiques d’écoulement et de transfert de chaleur d’un coulis de hydrate de bromure de tétra-n-butylammonium Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Hiroyuki Kumano, Auteur ; Tetsuo Hirata, Auteur ; Tomoya Kudoh, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : pp. 1953–1962 Note générale : Génie mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Hydrate Two-phase flow Pressure drop Non-Newtonian fluid Résumé : The flow characteristics of a tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide hydrate slurry were investigated experimentally. Reynolds number, tube diameter and solid fraction were varied as the experimental parameters. For laminar flow, it was found that the ratio of the coefficients of pipe friction increases with solid fraction, and the rate of increase is high in the case of a low Reynolds number. For turbulent flow, the ratio of the coefficients of pipe friction was approximately 1 for all tube diameters at low solids fraction. It then decreased slightly at a particular solid fraction and increased again at high solid fraction. Theoretical analysis was carried out using the experimental results, and it was found that the flow characteristics of the hydrate slurry can be treated as those of a pseudoplastic fluid and clarified using the apparent Reynolds number.
