An Euler–Euler, volume-of-fluid, multiphase-flow model was used for the three-phase flow simulation. The three-phase flow behaviors in the open and sealed inlet operation modes were investigated under various operating conditions. The location and morphology of the aqueous/organic interface were discussed in detail in light of the simulated pressure distribution. An interesting bistability phenomenon was observed in the simulation. The throughput of the annular centrifugal contactor was obtained from the simulation under various phase ratios and compared with experimental results. Excellent agreement was obtained, supporting the validity of the simulation method. The last crystal disappearance method was used to determine the solubility of DHPP. The experimental data were correlated by the van't Hoff plot, λh (Buchowski) equation, modified Apelblat equation, and two local composition models (Wilson and NRTL). Moreover, the densities of (DHPP + water) solution were measured from 274.25 to 355.95 K, and the liquid molar volume of DHPP, Vml (T), was obtained and used to calculate the parameters in the Wilson model. It was found that NRTL model gave the best correlation results. On the basis of the NRTL model and experimental data, the thermodynamic excess functions (ΔGE, ΔSE, and ΔHE) of DHPP + alcohols (methanol, ethanol, and 2-propanol) systems were determined. Furthermore, the infinite-dilution activity coefficient and the infinite-dilution reduced excess enthalpy (γ∞1 and ΔH∞E1) were derived. The total pressure is up to about 0.4 MPa, and temperature ranges from (277.35 to 318.25) K. The relationship between the partial molar volume of ammonia infinitely diluted in ethanol and temperature is obtained by measuring the density of (ethanol + ammonia) solution. The experimental results are used to determine the (molality scale based) Henry’s constant of ammonia in ethanol, where the activity in the liquid phase is calculated by applying the molality scale based Gibbs excess energy model of Pitzer. Techniques du commerce Résumé : Recent evidence has shown that entrants into self-employment are disproportionately drawn from the tails of the earnings and ability distributions. This observation is explained by a multitask model of occupational choice in which frictions in the labor market induce mismatches between firms and workers, and misassignment of workers to tasks. The model also yields distinctive predictions relating prior work histories to earnings and to the probability of entry into self-employment. These predictions are tested with the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study, from which we find considerable support for the model. Titre : State-space model for dynamic behavior of vapor compression liquid chiller Titre original : Modèle espace-état du comportement dynamique d’une refroidisseur de liquide à compression de vapeur Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ye, Yao, Auteur ; Mengwei, Huang, Auteur ; Jing Chen, Auteur Année de publication : 2014 Article en page(s) : pp. 2128–2147 Note générale : Refrigeration Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : State-space model; dynamic response; vapor compression; liquid chiller; R-134A Résumé : A state-space model has been developed to investigate the dynamic behaviors of refrigeration system. By using vector-matrix notation and linearization, the ordinary differential equations describing the chiller's dynamic thermal behaviors are transformed into a representation form of the state space. The model has been validated by a series of dynamic response experiments of a chiller with the refrigerant R-134a. The average errors of the model results compared with the experimental data are all less than 10% in the experimental cases. Afterward, the model is used to investigate the transient behaviors of the exit cold carrier temperature of evaporator under different A disturbances. The state-space model developed in this study helps us have a good idea of the dynamic performance of a refrigeration system under transient conditions and design optimized control strategies for a high-energy-efficiency HVAC system.
