Titre : Design of the drop-off-pick-up zones in buildings : the case of private transportation at the female university of Riyadh Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : F. J. Otamendi, Auteur ; J. Laffond, Auteur ; N. S. Segundo, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : pp. 122–129 Note générale : Recherche opérationnelle Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Simulation Logistics Architecture Traffic Index. décimale : 001.424 Résumé : The design of the building that is going to hold the operations to pick-up the female students by private vehicles when classes are finished is presented for an Arabian university. The premises have been designed to maximize the capacity of the parking arrangement and maintain a constant and quick flow of vehicles within complex sociological constraints. Architects, traffic engineers and simulation specialists have concurrently designed a building that has to give service to 4500 vehicles within 1 h. The solution is based on three pillars: just-in-time, to simplify the tasks and laminate the demand so the flow rates are evenly distributed; information technologies, to maximize the probability of the students being ready when the corresponding vehicle arrives; and discrete-event simulation to abstract the complex procedures in a realistic, dynamic way and to visualize the movement so as to transmit credibility on the selected design to all the parties involved. Titre : Towards an auction-driven gas supply : a simulation-based optimization framework for utilities Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : F. J. Otamendi, Auteur ; L. M. Doncel, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : pp. 1189–1198 Note générale : Operational research Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Decision analysis Logistics Gas Simulation Index. décimale : 001.424 Résumé : A platform for the study of the whole transmission problem (arrival of ships, regasification, transportation and distribution) faced by gas utilities companies is proposed. The main objective of this research is to develop a platform that includes the analysis of the new capacity auctions (and not the traditional commodity auctions) that will govern the supply chain in the near future. A simulation-optimization approach has been used to favour the more realistic abstraction of the system. The discrete-event model includes a genetic algorithm to reach the solution in a satisfactory short time, a requisite in auction markets. Design and optimization studies for the utilities are addressed using the platform, which has been validated with real data for one of the main zones in the Spanish market.
