Résumé : |
The investigation of the hydrodynamic pressures generated by seismic loads acting on the upstream faces of infinitely rigid vertical-walled dams in the presence of a compressible and viscous fluid is a key and important factor for their design and sizing.
In this work, a numerical solution of the problem was presented, which satisfies the governing equation of motion and all boundary conditions based on the finite element method through the MATLAB calculation code. The effect of different geometric and physical parameters, particularly the effect of compressibility, and the effect of fluid viscosity on hydrodynamic pressures was examined.
The numerical results obtained are presented for a case of an infinitely rigid vertical dam, whose analysis then allows obtaining an ideal design from an economic point of view, but also in terms of stability and safety of the structure. The results were validated by comparison with other analytical solution available in the specialized literature, which were found to be in very good agreement. |
