Titre : Chemical composition, antioxidant and myorelaxant activity of essential oils of Globba sessiliflora Sims Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ravendra Kumar, Auteur ; Om Prakash, Auteur ; A.K. Pant, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : pp. 385-391 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Globba sessiliflora Sims Zingiberaceae β-caryophyllene Myrcene Longipinene Selin-11-en-α-ol Antioxidant activity Myorelaxant activity Résumé : The volatile constituents of the rhizomes and aerial parts of Globba sessiliflora Sims were analyzed by a combination of gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). The major constituents identified in the rhizome oil were β-caryophyllene (20.1%), α-cadinol (14.7%), selin-11-en-4α-ol (12.0%), caryophyllene oxide (8.6%), γ-eudesmol (7.1%) and myrcene (4.7%). The oil from aerial part contained myrcene (15.8%), β-caryophyllene (12.3%), selin-11-en-4α-ol (11.0%), β-longipinene (10.9), manool (8.1%), germacrene D (5.2%) and β-eudesmol (4.1%) as major constituents. Both the oils showed significant myorelaxant effect on isolated duodenum smooth muscles of Wistar rats. The antioxidant activity of the oils were evaluated by different methods, namely reducing power assay, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and the chelating effect on Fe2+. The oils exhibited good to moderate antioxidant activity in a dose-dependent manner. Mathela, Auteur Année de publication : 2006 Article en page(s) : pp. 638-639 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Ziginber roseum Zingiberaceae Essential oil composition Linalool Limonene Résumé : The combination of GC and GC/MS analysis of the essential oil obtained from the rhizome of Zingiber roseum Rosc. revealed the presence of over 44 compounds of which 36 compounds have been identifed comprising 94.9% of the oil. The oil was found to be rich in linalool (53.3%) with lesser amounts of limonene (14.0%), β-pinene (9.3%) and α-pinene (4.4%) being among the other constituents. The marker components of the family Zingiberaceae such as borneol (0.9%) and β-eudesmol (1.4%) were found to be present in relatively low concentrations in the oil. This is the frst report on composition of the oil from rhizome of Z. roseum. Pant, Auteur Année de publication : 2007 Article en page(s) : pp. 407-409 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Alpinia allughas Zingiberaceae Essential oil composition 1,8-cineole β-pinene Résumé : The GC and GC/MS analyses of the oils from the rhizome and leaves of Alpinia allughas led to identification of 22 and 42 constituents, respectively. The major constituents of the rhizome oil were β-pinene (55.3%) and α-pinene (9.7%) whereas in the leaf oil β-pinene (25.5%), 1,8-cineole(23.3%) and α-humulene (9.7%) were major. The unique feature is the dominant presence of two pinenes (rhizome (65%) and leaf (30.9%)) unlike other species of Alpinia.
