| Résumé : | An innovative energy solution for remote off-grid regions is proposed in this work, with a particular emphasis on the Great South of Algeria. Conventional diesel generators and gas turbines are replaced by a hydrogen-based power-to-hydrogen-to-power (P2H2P) system that relies on water electrolysis driven by a photovoltaic power plant (PV-PP). Algeria's extensive Sahara region benefits from high solar irradiance, and the availability of the albian aquifer further increases the technical viability of the proposed approach. An intelligent energy management system employing fuzzy logic dynamically coordinates power flows among PV-PP, hydrogen production, and electricity generation from hydrogen-fueled gas turbines. As a result, a fully autonomous, decarbonized islanded microgrid (MG) is achieved, eliminating dependence on fossil fuels, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and enhancing overall system efficiency, stability, and reliability. This research advances next-generation MG systems that are particularly suitable for the Algerian Sahara, thereby fostering energy independence and long-term sustainability. |
