| Résumé : |
This thesis investigates energy recovery from biomass through two main areas:the production of biogas via anaerobic digestion and its subsequent utilization in combustion systems. The first part presents a numerical simulation of the anaerobic digestion process of sewage sludge
from the Baraki Wastewater Treatment Plant using Aspen Plus software. A kinetic and stoichiometric model is applied to predict the steady-state composition of the produced biogas, assessing the sludge's true potential for energy valorization. The second part focuses on an experimental study of turbulent non-premixed swirled biogas flames. Using a combination of swirl and radial fuel injection, flames were successfully stabilized at high CO2 levels in the biogas (up to 60% CO2) without encountering blowout. The study reveals a novel flame behavior at high CO2 concentrations (exceeding 40%), where liftoff heights decrease and the flame reattaches to the burner with a new morphology. Furthermore, emission analysis highlights a significant decrease in nitrogen oxides(NOx) caused by the temperature drop when CO2 is added. In addition, CO emissions were observed to increase at higher CO2 concentrations. |
