| Résumé : |
Testing composite materials is today a vital necessity, as their increasing use in safety-critical apsuch as aerospace structures, wind energy, and automotive components demands a thorough understanding of their mechanical behavior under real operating conditions. Experimental testing, covering tensile strength, fatigue life, and failure modes provides the reliable data that neither simulatinor theory alone can fully deliver. As composite structures become more complex and performance requirements more demanding, the need for dedicated, and repeatable testing methods has never been greater. This thesis, entitled ”Design and Implementation of the Control and Instrumentation Systems for Two Testing Machines — Tensile and Plane Bending Fatigue Machines — for Composite Materials,”
is structured into three principal stages. The first stage provides a comprehensive overview of composite materials, addressing their internal structure, classification, manufacturing techniques, industrial applications, and mechanical behavior under both tensile and plane bending fatigue loading conditions. The second stage presents a detailed account of the tensile testing machine, encompassing the threedimensional CAD design of its constituent components, structural simulations, the developed control and instrumentation system with its associated hardware, the human-machine interface (HMI), experimental testing procedures, realization methodology, and an estimated cost analysis. The third and final stage is dedicated to the control and instrumentation system developed for an existing plane bending fatigue machine, detailing the electronic components employed, the testing procedures carried out, and the corresponding human-machine interface implemented. |
