The modified slag was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) and EDX. The experimental results showed that the cooling rate has an important effect on precipitation of the rutile phase. Low cooling rate is in favor of the increase in the volume fraction of rutile phase in Ti-bearing blast furnace slag and the growth of rutile phase. The volume fraction of rutile phase was approximately described by JMAK equation. The experiential expression of average crystal radius for rutile phase was also obtained.
