Titre : Essential oil in leaves and inflorescences of silphium integrifolium michx Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Radosław Kowalski, Auteur ; Janusz Wierciński, Auteur ; Marek Mardarowicz, Auteur Année de publication : 2006 Article en page(s) : pp. 220-222 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Silphium integrifolium Asteraceae Essential oil composition α-pinene Résumé : The content and chemical composition of the essential oil obtained from the leaves and inflorescences of Silphium integrifolium Michx. were studied. The oil content in the leaves and inflorescences was 0.27% and 0.31% v/w, respectively. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of distilled oils were made using GC and GC/MS. It was found that the oils had similar qualitative compositions but they differed quantitative. The main constituents in the leaf and inflorescence oils were α-pinene (9.8% and 14.0%), trans-verbenol (2.7% and 6.3%), bornyl acetate (2.2% and 7.0%), allo-aromadendr-9-ene (4.3% and 6.1%) and caryophyllene oxide (8.7% and 4.7%). It was found that sesquiterpene compounds such as α-isocomene, modhephene, 7β-H-silphiperfol-5-ene, β-caryophyllene, β-isocomene, germacrene D, 7α-H-silphiperfol-5-ene, silphiperfol-6-ene and β-bisabolene were the main components of the tested oils and extracts from S. integrifolium and S. trifoliatum. Among the oils and extracts analyzed, signifcant amounts of allo-aromadendr-9-ene as well as α- and β-himachalene were found only in S. integrifolium rhizome oil. The main constituent of lipophilic extracts that was absent in the oils was 16-acetoxycarterochaetol at average content of 39.7±1.0% and 40.5±5.9% in tested extracts.
