Titre : Composition of the essential oil from nuphar pumilum (Timm.) DC. growing in Russia Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Mitsuo Myazawa, Auteur ; Jyunichi Kawata, Auteur ; Chikako Yamafuji, Auteur Année de publication : 2006 Article en page(s) : pp. 619-621 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Nuphar pumilum Nymphaceae Essential oil composition Cyclo-S8 Methyl palmitate linoleate Paeonol Chemotypes Résumé : The composition of the essential oils from rootstock of Nuphar pumilum has been investigated by capillary GC and GC/MS. In the case of the essential oils of N. pumilum, two chemotypes, Type A (Takasago Yakugyou) and Type B (Yamada Yakkyoku), were observed relative to their contents of elemental sulfur. Type A contained 51 components of which 16.1% were elemental sulfur (S6, S7, S8). The main components were cyclo-S8 (13.0%), methyl palmitate (10.1%), methyl linoleate (10.1%), paeonol (7.3%) and β-eudesmol (6.2%). Type B contained 77 components of which 0.6% was elemental sulfur (S8). The main components were paeonol (32.5%), eugenol (4.9%), menthol (3.6%), furfural (3.2%) and β-eudesmol (2.6%). The volatile components were also isolated by headspace techniques and analyzed. As a result, the oil was revealed the presence of 106 components, representing 97.5% of the total oil. The main components of the oil were bornyl acetate (13.0%), terpinolene (9.7%), bicyclosesquiphellandrene (9.5%), (E)-β-ocimene (9.1%) and (Z)—β-ocimene (7.6%). Twenty-one components accounting for 99.6% of the headspace constituents were identified. ISSN : 1041-2905 En ligne : http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/10412905.2008.9699408

The important odor-active compounds were also detected in the oil using GC-O and AEDA. As a result, the oil was revealed to contain 70 components, representing 97.4% of the total oil. The oil was composed of many nitrogen-containing components, such as 4-pentenonitrile (67.4%), benzenepropanenitrile (3.6%), 5-methyl hexanenitrile (3.5%) and 4-isothiocynato-1-butene (2.9%). AEDA and GC-O showed that 5-methyl hexanenitrile, skatole, benzenepropanenitrile, (E)-2-hexenal and menthol were the most aroma characteristic compounds of the oil.
