Schneid, was tested for repellency using the European house cricket, Gryllus domesticus (L.). After preliminary tests showed the fruit to possess repellent properties, two volatile components of the fruit were isolated and identified by GC/MS. The two isomeric alcohols, isoamyl alcohol and 2-methyl-2-butanol, were found to be repellent both in combination and individually.
