Titre : Analyses of the volatile compounds of callitris columellaris F. muell. needles from two different regions of Nigeria Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Isiaka, A. Ogunwande, Auteur ; Nureni O. Olawore, Auteur ; Kasali A. Adeleke, Auteur Année de publication : 2006 Article en page(s) : pp. 44-46 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Callitris columellaris Cupressaceae Essential oil composition Limonene Bornyl acetate Résumé : Volatile compounds from the leaves of Callitris columellaris F. Muell. collected from Ibadan (southwest) and Kaduna (north central), Nigeria, were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The predominant compounds were limonene (37.2%) and bornyl acetate (27.1%), respectively, for samples from Ibadan and Kaduna. The observed compositional pattern in the two samples may suggest the existence of chemical race within the Nigerian-grown C. columellaris considering the different ecological and climatic conditions between the two cities. Oxygenated sesquiterpenes constituted the bulk of both oils (54.2% and 52.1% for the red and black types, respectively). The major components of the oil of the red type were cyperotundone (42.3%), piperitone (10.1%), β-maaliene (8.4%) and germacrone (5.3%), while the oil of the black type had an abundance of cedrol (19.0%), guaia-5-en-11-ol (14.9%) and cyperotundone (9.6%).
