Titre : Composition of the essential oils of mentha aquatica L. and nepeta meyeri benth. from Iran Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Akbar Esmaeili, Auteur ; Abdolhossein Rustaiyan, Auteur ; Shiva Masoudi, Auteur Année de publication : 2006 Article en page(s) : pp. 263-265 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Mentha aquatica Nepeta meyeri Labiatae Essential oil composition Piperitenone oxide β-caryophyllene Viridiflorol 1,8-cineole 4aα,7α,7αβ-nepetalactone Résumé : The essential oils obtained by hydrodistillation of the stem and leaf of Mentha aquatica L. and the aerial parts of Nepeta meyeri Benth., two Labiatae species of Iran, were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty compounds, representing 88.1% of the stem oil of M. aquatica, were identified; among them β-caryophyllene (22.4%), viridiflorol (11.3%) and 1,8-cineole (10.9%) were the major ones.
The leaf oil of the plant was characterized by higher amount of piperitenone oxide (25.7%), and also β-caryophyllene (12.0%) and 1,8-cineole (10.3%), among the 29 components, comprising 95.4% of the total oil, detected.
The oil of N. meyeri was made up mainly of oxygenated monoterpenes, of which 4aα,7α,7αβ-nepetalactone (68.1%) was the major constituent.ISSN : 1041-2905 En ligne : http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/10412905.2006.9699082#.UaTBdtgYrOk [article] Composition of the essential oils of mentha aquatica L. and nepeta meyeri benth. from Iran [texte imprimé] / Akbar Esmaeili, Auteur ; Abdolhossein Rustaiyan, Auteur ; Shiva Masoudi, Auteur . - 2006 . - pp. 263-265.

(two Compositae species of Iran) were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-two compounds representing 86.4% of the stem oil of Xanthium strumarium were identified, among which bornyl acetate (19.5%), limonene (15.0%) and β-selinene (10.1%) were the major ones. The leaf oil of the plant was characterized by higher amount of limonene (24.7%) and borneol (10.6%) among the 28 components comprising 85.2% of the total oil detected. Eighteen components were identified in the oil of Centaurea solstitialis representing 86.6% of the total oil with hexadecanoic acid (30.8%) and caryophyllene oxide (25.2%) as major constituents.
