Titre : Comparative investigations on the leaf and root oils of valeriana wallichii DC from Northwestern Himalaya Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Shalini Sati, Auteur ; C. S. Chanotiya, Auteur ; C. S. Mathela, Auteur Année de publication : 2006 Article en page(s) : pp. 408-409 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Valeriana wallichii Valerianaceae Essential oil composition 3-methylvaleric acid Maaliol Résumé : The leaf and root oils of Valeriana wallichii DC, native to Northwestern Himalaya, were investigated by GC and GC/MS. Twenty and 23 components were identifi ed in the leaf and root oil constituting about 83.2% and 89.3% of the oils, respectively. 3-Methylvaleric acid (26.5%) and maaliol (39.2%) were the major constituents of the leaf oil. The root oil was also rich in maaliol (64.3%) and β-gurjunene (7.2%). ISSN : 1041-2905 En ligne : http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/10412905.2005.9698945#.Ucg9hmF2_n4

Titre : Volatile constituents in the root and leaf oils of valeriana pyrolaefolia decne. Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Shalini Sati, Auteur ; C. S. Mathela, Auteur Année de publication : 2006 Article en page(s) : pp. 29-31 Note générale : Génie Chimique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Valeriana pyrolaefoila Valerianaceae Essential oil composition Valeranone 2,6-dimethoxyphenol Résumé : The chemical composition of root and leaf oils of Valeriana pyrolaefolia Decne. was determined by GC and GC/MS, and 45 components were identified. Both oils were rich in sesquiterpenoids and characterized by high contents of valeranone (31.8–37.9%) and patchouli alcohol (8.6–12.9%). The leaf oil composition showed remarkable presence of a non-terpenoid, 2,6-dimethoxyphenol (19.8%), among the major compounds. The presence of valeranone and patchouli alcohol suggests it has commercial potential. ISSN : 1041-2905 En ligne : http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/10412905.2006.9699377#.Ua7nnNgYrOk
