In this paper, a time/space separation modeling approach based on the interval type-2 T-S fuzzy model (IT2 T-S model) is proposed for nonlinear DPS. First, the spatial-temporal output is divided into a few dominant spatial basis functions and low-dimensional time series by a linear time/space separation method. Second, the interval type-2 T-S fuzzy model is determined from the low-dimensional time series to reconstruct the system dynamics through the spatial basis functions. As the IT2 T-S model employs an interval linear model in the consequent part, the relationship between the input and spatial output can be determined by linear expressions through type reduction and linear time/space reconstruction. Thus, the obtained model is suitable for control design. The simulation presents the accuracies and effectiveness of the proposed modeling methodologies. Titre : Freezing mechanism of supercooled water droplet impinging on metal surfaces Titre original : Mécanisme de congélation des gouttelettes d'eau surrefroidies impactant sur des surfaces métalliques Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Guomin Yang, Auteur ; Kaihua Guo, Auteur ; Ning Li, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : pp. 2007–2017 Note générale : Génie mécanique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Supercooling Water Droplet Freezing Ice Morphology Résumé : Ice accretion on power lines is a random natural phenomenon and may seriously harm to the safety of power network. However, the mechanism of the freezing process of supercooled water droplet impacting on wires is still not fully understood. In this study, an experimental investigation on the freezing mechanism of the supercooled water droplet impinging on cold metal surfaces was performed. The morphological characters and the dynamics of a single supercooled droplet collide on the cylindrical metal surfaces had been revealed with high-speed photographing. The experimental data for the surfaces of stainless steel, copper and aluminum, on which the supercooled droplets impinging with speeds of 2.3 m s−1 and 4.3 m s−1 had been plotted. The phenomena of instantaneous and non-instantaneous freezing of the supercooled impinging droplet were identified and the conditional boundaries for these two kinds of freezing were found statistically. Défauts des matériaux. Protection des matériaux Résumé : A novel experimental method using modified double cantilever beam specimens and a customized test frame are introduced to evaluate bond characteristics and toughness of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite overlays and a concrete substrate under mixed mode loading. A computer vision system is used to measure the crack location, near-tip deformations and crack opening displacement during the crack growth process. Digital image correlation is used to determine the crack opening displacement (COD) for flaws growing in the vicinity of the FRP–concrete interface. Results from this study indicate that during crack growth, (1) the Mode I component of COD is dominant for all angles of specimen loading, (2), the magnitude of the local Mode I component of COD is maximized when good bond quality is present and crack extension occurs within the mortar/concrete near the FRP–concrete interface and (3) good agreement exists between independent energy release rate estimates based upon both an approximate elastic double cantilever beam formulation and also use of the measured components of COD in a classical linear elastic expression.

In this paper, a new local modeling approach is proposed to estimate the spatial dynamics of SDS based on input output data. The interval type-2 T-S fuzzy model is developed to the local dynamics in consideration of the mutual influence of neighbor regions. The parameters and the proper fuzzy rules of the local models are obtained by using interval type-2 fuzzy satisfactory clustering algorithm. Then the global models can be determined by constructing the local models by smooth interpolation. The accuracies of the modeling methodologies are tested in the shell and tube heat exchanger. The spatial discretization was processed using the spectral-element method. Nonreflecting conditions were employed at the outflow boundary. Particles were traced by the Lagrangian approach based on one-way coupling between the continuous and the disperse phases. The simulation results of the flow field agree well with experimental data. Particles (St = 4) are found to concentrate in the regions between adjacent vortex structures (RAVS) together with other particles dispersed outside of vortex outlining the boundaries of the large-scale vortex structures, which is independent of the flow Reynolds number. Due to U-velocity component difference, at the entrance of RAVS the flow does "compact" on particles causing particle concentration, and it increases with the flow Reynolds number and particle size. The mechanism of particle transport in the wake flow mostly depends on the strong interactions between two alternative and successive shedding vortex structures with opposite sign. Particle transport in the wake flow could be briefly described as follows: moving around vortices and going ahead with vortices.
