Titre : 2D/3D freeview video generation for 3DTV system Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Dongbo Min, Auteur ; Donghyun Kim, Auteur ; SangUn Yun, Auteur Article en page(s) : pp. 31-48 Note générale : Electronique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Occlusion handling Semi-N-view & N-depth framework Stereo matching Virtual view rendering Index. décimale : 621.382 Dispositifs électroniques utilisant les effets des corps solides. Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : In this paper, we present a new method of synthesizing novel views from the virtual cameras in multiview camera configurations for three-dimensional TV (3DTV) system.
We introduce a semi-N-view & N-depth framework in order to estimate disparity maps efficiently and correctly.
This framework reduces redundancy on disparity estimation by using information from neighboring views.
N views can be classified as reference and target images.
The disparity maps on the reference images are only estimated by using the cost aggregation method with the weighted least square.
The cost functions on the target images are computed by the proposed warping technique so that significant reduction of computation loads is possible.
The occlusion problem, which significantly affects the quality of virtual view rendering, is handled by using cost functions computed with multiview images.
The proposed method provides a 2D/3D freeview video for 3DTV system.
User can select 2D/3D modes of freeview video and control 3D depth perception by adjusting several parameters in 3D freeview video.
Experimental results show that the proposed method yields the accurate disparity maps and the synthesized novel view is satisfactory enough to provide seamless freeview videos for 3DTV system.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...]

Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : This paper proposes a novel method for synthesizing free viewpoint video captured by uncalibrated pure rotating and zooming cameras.
Neither intrinsic nor extrinsic parameters of our cameras are known.
Projective grid space (PGS), which is the 3D space defined by the epipolar geometry of two basis cameras, is employed for weak camera calibration.
Trifocal tensors are used to relate non-basis cameras to PGS.
Given trifocal tensors in the initial frame, our method automatically computes trifocal tensors in the other frames.
Scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) is used for finding corresponding points in a natural scene between the initial frame and the other frames.
Finally, free viewpoint video is synthesized based on the reconstructed visual hull.
In the experimental results, free viewpoint video captured by uncalibrated hand-held cameras is successfully synthesized using the proposed method.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...]

Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : Data encryption is one of the key information security technologies used for safeguarding multimedia content from unauthorised access and manipulation in end-to-end delivery and access chains.
This technology, combined with the appropriate cryptographic methods, effectively prevents the content against malicious attacks, so as to protect its authenticity as well as integrity.
While encryption-based security is ensuring the authorised consumption of the multimedia content, content adaptation technologies have the primary goal of providing means for wider dissemination of the content across diverse networks, devices and users, and thus enriching user satisfaction and experience of the delivered content within a given set of usage environment constraints.
Traditionally, protected contents can only be adapted at trusted adaptation engines residing between the source and end-users, since they have to be fully decrypted before performing the necessary adaptation operations.
The drawback of such a process is that it significantly limits the availability and flexibility of adaptation engines applicable for adapting protected contents on the fly.
Thus, this paper proposes a novel scalable H.264/advanced video coding (AVC)-compatible video encryption technique, which is also transparent to adaptation engines in an end-to-end video delivery scenario.
The proposed technology relies on keeping syntax elements required for performing the adaptation operations clear (i.e., not encrypted).
The effectiveness of the proposed technique has been successfully verified in scenarios, where both conventional joint scalable video model (JSVM) bit stream extracting and random packet dropping mechanisms are used.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...]

Titre : Adaptive two-stage FEC scheme for scalable video transmission over wireless networks Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Yufeng Shan, Auteur ; Su Yi, Auteur ; Shivkumar Kalyanaraman, Auteur Article en page(s) : pp. 718-729 Note générale : Electronique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Wireless FEC Video streaming Cross-layer Scalable Index. décimale : 621.382 Dispositifs électroniques utilisant les effets des corps solides. Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : In this paper, we present a two-stage forward error correction (FEC) scheme with an enhanced link-layer protocol especially for multimedia data transmission over wireless LANs.
At the application layer, packet-level FEC (stage-one) is added across packets to correct packet losses due to congestion and route disruption.
Bit-level FEC (stage-two) is then added to both application packets and stage-one FEC packets to recover bit errors from the link layer.
Then at the link layer, header-CRC/FEC is used to enhance protection and to cooperate with the two-stage FEC scheme.
The proposed scheme thus provides joint protection across the protocol stack.
We explore both its bandwidth efficiency and video performance for the highly efficient and scalable MC-EZBC video codec using the network simulator ns-2.
Our results show that the proposed scheme can effectively increase application-layer throughput, reduce both end-to-end transmission delay and application bandwidth fluctuation, and significantly improve video performance.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...]

Dispositifs semi-conducteurs Résumé : This paper proposes new concepts of the all phase biorthogonal transform (APBT) and the dual biorthogonal basis vectors.
In the light of all phase digital filtering theory, three kinds of all phase biorthogonal transforms based on the Walsh transform (WT), the discrete cosine transform (DCT) and the inverse discrete cosine transform (IDCT) are proposed.
The matrices of APBT based on WT, DCT and IDCT are deduced, which can be used in image compression instead of the conventional DCT.
Compared with DCT-based JPEG (DCT-JPEG) image compression algorithm at the same bit rates, the PSNR and visual quality of the reconstructed images using these transforms are approximate to DCT, outgoing DCT-JPEG at low bit rates especially.
But the advantage is that the quantization table is simplified and the transform coefficients can be quantized uniformly.
Therefore, the computing time becomes shorter and the hardware implementation easier.DEWEY : 361.382 ISSN : 0923-5965 En ligne : http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=PublicationURL&_tockey=%23TOC%235640%23 [...]
