Titre : Analysis of the performance of a hydraulic slurry flow calibration rig Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : S. Chehbi, Auteur ; C. N. Wormald, Directeur de thèse Editeur : Bradford : University of Bradford Année de publication : 1983 Importance : 79 f. Présentation : ill. Format : 27 cm. Note générale : Mémoire de Magister : Control Engineering : Bradford, University of Bradford : 1983
Bibliogr. f. 80Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Hydraulic slurry flow calibration rig ; Flow-rates ; Calibrating flowmeters ; Diverter system ; Fluctuations -- the flow-rate Index. décimale : M006183 Résumé : The projet aimed at analysing the performance of the Hydraulic Slurry Flow Calibration Ring, recently installed at the department of Control Engineering.
This rig is intended for calibrating and testing liquid flowmeters in the range of small and medium flow-rates, which can be extended up to 90 litres oer second.
A survey of the various methods of calibrating flowmeters with liquids, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of these methods is presented.
The accuracy and operational performance of the Hydraulic Slurry Flow Rig is then considered, and for this purpose a classification of possible errors is made.
Operational problems were encountered during the running of the rig, of which the first was related to the diverter system which is used to direct the flow into and out of the weightank.
The second problem was the unconstancy and fluctuations of the flow-rate in the test lines, particularly during the diversion periods.
These problems were investigated and possible solutions to them, including the use of a microcomputer in order to overcome them are also presented in here.Analysis of the performance of a hydraulic slurry flow calibration rig [texte imprimé] / S. Coating processeIndex. décimale : M000580 Résumé : Experimental measurements for the flow of shear thinning inelastic non-Newtonian liquids and some industrial coating solutions through the nip of two CO- and counter-rotating rolls of various size and speed have been carried out.
Results are presented in a dimensionless form for the total volumetric flux through the nip and for the distribytion of this flux between the two rolls.
These results were found to be in good agreement with the correlations developed by previous workers.
Also, a semi-theoretical method is presented which allows estimates to be made of the forces exerted on the rolls and the power required to drive the rolls in both forward and reverse roll coating processes.
The analysis involves a simplified equation of motion based on the lubrication approximations.
Finally, an experimental method which permits pressure measurement through the nip is described. An experimental and theoretical investigation of the fluxes and pressures in roll coating operations [texte imprimé] / Mourad Boumaza, Auteur ; Benkreira, H., Directeur de thèse . - Bradford : University of Bradford, 1980 . - 87 f. : ill. ; 27 cm.

Computer controlIndex. décimale : Ms00282 Résumé : The project aimed at establishing the dynamic characteristics of a recently constructed R-RIM equipment.
The system comprises two hydraulic actuators working in parallel, their strokes being controlled by electrohydraulic valves and associated electronic equipment forming simple position control loops.
The whole system has to be identified.
Dynamic data were essential in order to make possible the design and implementation of computer control.
To achieve the aims two approaches were used:
- Analytical, in which the dynamic information were to be obtained from model equations representing energy, force and mass balance of the machine.
- Experimental, in which the process characteristics were to be determined directly from reaction curves representing the process response to a pre-measured disturbance.Theoretical and experimental evaluation of the control requirements of a R-RIM equipment [texte imprimé] / Abdelkader Attou, Auteur ; A. Driving softwareIndex. décimale : Ms00783 Résumé : Documentation about how to use a type T611 Tektronix Storage Monitor as a data storage and display instrument is presented in this dissertation.
A survey was carried out to what option was best to interface it.
Two main options were available.
It could have been used as a two screen graphics terminal where it would be an RS232 terminal using microprocessor.
Alternatively, it could be interfaced to the HP 1000 F computer via its own interfacing processor the HP 2240.
The choice settled on the second option.
The driving software has been prepared for this purpose.
The language used is FORTRAN 4.
A complete listing and a full description of the programming is provided.Using a storage tube display for computer graphics [texte imprimé] / Abdelmalek B. C. Zidouri, Auteur ; R. M. Henry, Directeur de thèse . - Bradford : University of Bradford, 1983 . - 60 f. : ill. ; 30 cm.

Nonlinear feedback systems
Walsh functionsIndex. décimale : Ms00382 Résumé : It was recently shown that the existence of limit cycles in nonlinear feedback systems can be predicted by using combinations of Walsh functions to approximate to signals around the feedback loop.
This necessitated the introduction of two new quantities, the equivalent Gain (EG) and the Walsh Gain (WG), representing the responses of linear and nonlinear elements, respectively, to Walsh function inputs.
This dissertation considers the application of the method to the case where the nonlinear element in the feedback system is an asymmetrical nonlinearity.
This involves the development of modified EG and WG functions, appropriate to the balance around the feedback loop of periodic signals with non-zero mean values.
The proposed method is compared with the describing function approach for a selection of systems with relay type nonlinearities, and an at tempt is made to assess the relative advantages and disadvantages of the two techniques.A new approach to the prediction of limit cycles in nonlinear systems with asymmetrical nonlinearities [texte imprimé] / Abdallah Miloudi, Auteur ; R.
