Titre : Absolute stability and limit cycles in systems with two nonlinearities Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Bilal Chanane, Auteur ; D. R. Fannin, Directeur de thèse Editeur : University of Missouri-Rolla Année de publication : 1979 Importance : 46 f. Présentation : ill. Format : 27 cm. Note générale : Mémoire de Magister : Electrotechnique : Etats-Unis, University of Missouri-Rolla :1979
Bibliogr. f 47 - 49. Annexe f 51 - 57Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Engineering ; Nonlinear -- systems ; Stability ; Oscillations Index. décimale : M000279 Résumé : This thesis addresses the analysis of a class of systems containing two single valued nonlinearities.
The analysis is threefold.
First, sufficient conditions for absolute stability are developed.
Second, the problem of determining the existence and stability of oscillations is investigated; sufficient conditions are presented.
Third, the approximate amplitude and frequency of the oscillation, if one exists, are obtained using the describing function (DF) method.Absolute stability and limit cycles in systems with two nonlinearities [texte imprimé] / Bilal Chanane, Auteur ; D. Electromagnetic beamIndex. décimale : Ms00179 Résumé : It has been shown that it is possible to improve the excitation efficiency (coupling coefficient) of Surface Electromagnetic Waves (SEW) on water by using a metal-lens assisted horn antenna.
These experiments have been done at a microwave frequency of 9.5 GHz.
The distance, d, of the aiming point of the center line of the microwave horn antenna from the corner of the prism was found for a maximum reading to be 0.85λ and 1.36λ, respectively, when the horn was used without and with the metal-lens assistance.
The metal-lens, when mounted on the horn's aperture, gave a higher peak by 8.8% than the horn used alone.
When using the prism, a 6% higher peak was noted when the metal-lens assisted horn antenna was used.
When collimating the electromagnetic beam horizontally with dielectric lenses, a higher peak of 6.5% was obtained with the metal-lens assisted horn antenna over the horn antenna alone.Characteristics of surface electromagnetic wave couplers using metal-lens assisted horn antenna [texte imprimé] / Mohamed Noureddine, Auteur ; C. Quadratic penalty functionsIndex. décimale : Ms00182 Résumé : To solve the optimal power flow problem, two classical methods and the Dommel-Tinney approach are studied.
The specific objective is to develop a simple computer program for the D-T technique and examine its convergence and speed characteristics when compared to the classical methods.
The optimization program used is capable of accepting quadratic cost functions and the load flow part includes transformer taps and static capacitors.
The use of quadratic penalty functions is also investigated with reactive generation limits on voltage control busses.Optimal load flow using the dommel-tinney approach comparison with two classical methods [texte imprimé] / Ahmed Hamdi, Auteur ; Max D.
