Using energy efficient and rapid solution combustion synthesis technique, a variety of complex, i.e., perovskites/platinum (ABO3/Pt), catalysts were synthesized. A high-throughput NuVant system was used for testing these compositions as an anode catalyst for electrooxidation of methanol and ethanol in the conditions close to those for direct alcohol fuel cells. It was found that a variety of ABO3/Pt compositions with Ru at B-site, prepared directly in the combustion wave, exhibit comparable performance with Pt−Ru alloy. It is important that these bifunctional catalysts contain much less platinum than that used in standard ones. |
