Simultaneous stabilization algorithm
Multi-input multi-output linear systemsIndex. décimale : Ms01086 Résumé : The first objective of our work was to use the Harris 800 computer to develop an implementation of the algorithm proposed for simultaneous stabilization.
The resulting program has been applied to some examples which we later describe.
We also tried to extend the results obtained for continuous plants to the discrete domain, with limited success.
The fact that the simultaneous stabilization algorithm presented cannot be easily extended to the discrete domain will be discussed.
We shall also indicate a way to overcome this problem for certain classes of discrete plants.
New results dealing with the problem of simultaneously stabilizing multi-input multi-output linear time-invariant systems appear in the Ph.D. dissertation by Wei.
He provides an algorithm for the solution of the problem which is similar in spirit to the one presented.
His algorithm was also implemented on the Harris 800.
The organization of the thesis is summarized as follows:
Chapter II surveys the results obtained.
We also provide some new results which lead to a better insight into the simultaneous stabilization theory.
- The coefficients of the transfer functions are considered as elements of closed intervals, so we can dispose with the closed degree set assumption of:
- A root locus interpretation of Lemma 4.4 is presented.
- The signal tracking case is considered in more detail.
- Necessary conditions are given for obtaining satisfactory decay rates.
Chapter III deals with the simultaneous stabilization of multi-input multi-output transfer function matrices.
There, polynomial factorizations of the plant are seen to play role in conjunction with the results in chapter II.
Chapter IV discusses the results obtained in the discrete domain, and provides a heuristic solution to the problem of simultaneously stabilizing large classes of discrete plants.
In particular, we focus attention on classes of discrete systems obtained via sampling.
Chapter V briefly presents the two programs written for simultaneous stabilization, the program listings themselves are in appendices.
For illustration of the application of the simultaneous stabilization theory on practical problems, chapter VI considers the design of a control system designed to stabilize the longitudinal modes of the F4-E fighter aircraft with additional canards.
Finally, chapter VII presents the conclusion of this work.A newly developed theory on simultaneous stabilization : implementation issues and practical limitations [texte imprimé] / Rachid Illoul, Auteur ; B.
