Multichannel unitIndex. décimale : Ms00784 Résumé : This thesis describes the development of a compact, self-powered and portable electronic system for measuring and recording human posture changes which are detected and converted into analogue voltages by an array of transducers attached to selected joints of the human body.
The present equipment is designed as a multichannel unit to accommodate a possible total of 16 transducers, each channel being scanned at preset intervals of time and the samples passed to conditioning circuits which produce digitally encoded signals acceptable for computer processing.
The datais, first, stored in memory and then transferred into magnetic tape.
The data is read-back and displayed on the screen of a Video Genie Microcomputer for further processing.
This equipment is configured around the NSC800 microprocessor family and makes use of CMOS technology in order to reduce the overall power consumption.
In addition, the ability to power down the transducers during non-sampling periods further reduces the power drain making the equipment suited for prolonged on-site operation.
Finally, the performance of the equipment during laboratory testing is assessed and suggestions are made for further enhancements of the recording system.Portable equipment for monitoring and recording human postures [texte imprimé] / B.
