Coupling constantsIndex. décimale : Ms00388 Résumé : This thesis is concerned with the application of NMR spectroscopy to solving problems in organic chemistry.
The structure of several tetrafluoropyridines and pentafluorobenzenes was verified, combining the information from ¹⁹F, ¹³C and ¹H spectra.
The spectral parameters (chemical shifts and coupling constants) were, when possible, correlated with the character of the substituent.
The coupling constants derived from the analysis of the ¹³C and ¹⁹F spectra were used for computer calculation of these spectra.
Appropriate decoupling experiments were carried out when the assignment of the chemical shifts or coupling constants was uncertain.
Finally, a specific application, the differentiation between the enantiomers of racemic mixtures, using a chiral solvating agent (CSA) was examined.
The mixtures for which the experiments were successful were racemic 2,2,2-trifluoro-l-phenylethanol (TFPE), 2-phenylpropionic acid and 2-pentafluorophenylbutyric acid in resolved (ℓ)-α-phenylethylamine (PEA).
The enantiomeric shift was also observed for racemic PEA in resolved phenylpropionic acid.
In conjunction with these CSA experiments a small amount of racemic TFPE was prepared and an attempt was made to prepare 2,2,2-trifluoro-l-phenylethylamine by an improved route. Some aspects of NMR spectroscopy [texte imprimé] / Laidoudi Bouakkar, Auteur ; R.
