A standard commercial anchotage (type E5 C.C.L) was used in the investigations.
This is made from cast iron and consists of three main components: a square surface flange, an embedded inner flange, and a conical barrel.
The aim of the experimental prigramme is designed to examine the reinforcement requirements for the embedded anchor.
The tests were carried out on end-blocks of square cross-section and constant height.
In order to simulate the load which in post-tensioning members the end-blocks were loaded by a single concentric force through the exposed area of the embedded anchor.
Tests were made to investigate the ratio of the size of the loaded face to the size of the end block, the amount of transverse reinforcement, the type of transverse reinforcement (helical or stirrups), and the concrete strength.
As the research programme dealt with only one type of anchorage the shape and size of the loading plate and the size of the duct remained unchanged.
Results indicated the uselessness of congested reinforcement in the anchorage zone, and the efficiency of the helical reinforcement.
They also indicated that the current rules overestimated the bursting forces for embedded anchors and hence the reinforcement.
A non-linear finite element analysis for structural concrete was also carried out to study the behaviour of the endblock.
The analysis modelled the endblock and the embedded anchorage unit as an axisymmetric problem.
The behaviour of the endblocks subjected to increasing loading was generally well predicted up to a certain load.
The location and development of cracks, the load displacement response relationship were predicted within sufficient accuracy.Reinforcement around embedded anchorages for post-tensioned prestressed concrete [texte imprimé] / Messaoud Souici, Auteur ; A.
