Crossing speedIndex. décimale : Ms01784 Résumé : Thise disssertation has described an investigation of the effect of pedestrians speed when using a light controolled crossing (Pelican crossing). It particularly focuses its attention upon:
*the volume of pedestrians
*harrassement of pedestrians by vehicles
Pedestrian crossing speed profiles at Pelican crossings were then compared with data on the walking apeed of pedestrians
On carrying out a literature survy, it was noticed that most articles concentrated on vehicule flow rather than pedestrian flow.
Also, that the use of light controlled crossings depends on their location and consequently the mean trafic flow and length of the crossing
It made use of this information when collecting the data so that the maximum number of readings in time available could be taken as well as gathering other information regarding pedestrians.
Factors wich might affect the walking speed of pedestrians when crossing were considered, in particular those which were readily measurable without sophisticated equipement, e.g. volume of pedestrians and harrassement by vehicles. These two factors were then analyses using various statistical methods so that conclusions could be drawn.Pedestrian flow road crossings [texte imprimé] / Massied, Mohamed, Auteur ; Palmer, A.W., Directeur de thèse . - Sussex : [s.n.], 1984 . - 110 f. : ill. ; 30 cm.

Inhomogeneous magnetic fieldIndex. décimale : Ms01785 Résumé : The theory nuclear magnetic relaxation has been well established since the appearance of the Boembergen, purcell, and pound (B.P.P) theory (1), where the standard procedure is to express the relaxation times in terms of the fourier transform of the relevant correlation function of the fluctuating local field. It has been found (2) that some of the most striking phenomenon of nuclear magnetic resonance are related to the motion of the nuclei themselves.
Indeed, bloembergen suggested a possible mechanism for relaxation in dilute ³He, where spins may relax via the collisional modulation of the dipole-dipole interaction between pairs of atoms.Nuclear magnetic relaxation time for a cas in inhomogeneous magnetic field [texte imprimé] / Alikacem, Nadir, Auteur ; M.G.
