By the introduction of these strong magnets, the electric power saving was realized. By not using iron yokes, not only the weight saving was realized but also the electrical response speed was increased due to the reduction of the inductance of the magnetic coils. The test section of the MSBS is 36 cm × 40 cm. We have developed the control method to support the model and give an arbitral movement of small amplitude at the center of the test section around five axes. In order to evaluate the characteristics of this MSBS, we performed the calibration tests of magnetic forces for our MSBS. We measured drag coefficients of a sphere aerodynamic model in order to confirm the performance of these MSBSs and had good agreements between the measured values and the values appeared in the common aerodynamic hand book. The MSBS has been studied and used in large scale laboratories. We think that these experimental results make the application of the MSBS into the wind tunnel experiment easier and can be the trigger to popularize it in small laboratories. Titre : Alternative distributed algorithms for network utility maximization : framework and applications Titre original : Algorithmes distribués par alternative pour la maximisation de service de réseau: cadre et applications Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Palomar, Daniel P., Auteur ; Chiang, Mung, Auteur Article en page(s) : 2254-2269 p. Note générale : Automatique Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Congestion control Distributed algorithm Mathematical programming/optimization Network control by pricing Network utility maximization (NUM) Rate control Resource allocation Commande de congestion mathématique/optimisation Algorithme distribué Programmation Maximisation de service de réseau (NUM) Commande de taux Commande de réseau par l'évaluation Attribution de ressource Index. décimale : 629.8 Résumé : Network utility maximization (NUM) problem formulations provide an important approach to conduct network resource allocation and to view layering as optimization decomposition. In the existing literature, distributed implementations are typically achieved by means of the so-called dual decomposition technique. However, the span of decomposition possibilities includes many other elements that, thus far, have not been fully exploited, such as the use of the primal decomposition technique, the versatile introduction of auxiliary variables, and the potential of multilevel decompositions. This paper presents a systematic framework to exploit alternative decomposition structures as a way to obtain different distributed algorithms, each with a different tradeoff among convergence speed, message passing amount and asymmetry, and distributed computation architecture. Several specific applications are considered to illustrate the proposed framework, including resource-constrained and direct-control rate allocation, and rate allocation among QoS classes with multipath routing. For each of these applications, the associated generalized NUM formulation is first presented, followed by the development of novel alternative decompositions and numerical experiments on the resulting new distributed algorithms. A systematic enumeration and comparison of alternative vertical decompositions in the future will help complete a mathematical theory of network architectures.
- 2254-2269 p.

An adaptive multi-objective method is developed to tackle these issues simultaneously using magnetic bearings. A two-stage weighting strategy is developed, involving base weightings calculated by using a singular value decomposition of the system's receptance matrices and an adjustable single weighting parameter tuned automatically to shift the balance between the two objective functions in accordance with performance specifications. This new real-time controller does not require measurements in addition to those required for the open-loop adaptive strategy. Frequency and time domain simulations of an existing experimental rig are used to assess the effectiveness of the proposed multi-objective adaptive controller as a precursor to an experimental study. Note générale : Systèmes dynamiques Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Adaptive control Aircraft Flexible structures Stability Vibration control Index. décimale : 629.8 Résumé : Flexibility and aeroelastic behaviors in large space structures can lead to degradation of control system stability and performance. The model reference adaptive notch filter is an effective methodology used and implemented for reducing such effects. In this approach, designing a model reference for adaptive control algorithm in a flight device such as a launch vehicle is very important. In this way, the vibrations resulting from the structure flexibility mostly affects the pitch channel, and its influences on the yaw channel are negligible. This property is used and also the symmetrical behavior of the yaw and pitch channels. In this paper, by using this property and also the symmetrical behavior of the yaw and pitch channels, a new model reference using identification on the yaw channel is proposed. This model behaves very similar to the rigid body dynamic of the pitch channel and can be used as a model reference to control the vibrational effects. Simulation results illustrated applies the proposed algorithm and considerably reduces the vibrations in the pitch channel. Moreover, the main advantage of this new method is the online tuning of the model reference against unforeseen variations in the parameters of the rigid launch vehicle, which has not been considered in the previous works. Finally, robustness of the new control system in the presence of asymmetric behavior is investigated.
